  2. No don’t have the old shocks , these were on when I purchased it’s proving that most of the jobs done by P.O. are very poor , parts missing etc etc

Still looks like shocks topping out to me. Measure the height between the bolt holes at maximum stretch, then measure between the mounting points on the bus, with both shocks removed.

  4. Yes, the shocks were hitting the end of their extension, hard.

It might be that this constant hammering has slowly expanded the inner bushes at the top, which is why they're now over-size and misshapen. Or they might just have been the wrong shocks altogether.

    New shocks needed.

  5. Check the part numbers on the shocks, they may be the wrong ones.(rears instead of fronts)

  7. I’ve just been onto KYB Uk apparently the shocks come with a fitting kit so you can choose the correct bush for your vehicle and fit. These shocks are not that old, it’s simply a case of previous owner not putting in the correct bush , you can’t buy the bushes separate so new shocks are needed . My patience with the P.O. has just about run out , considering they are a VW company trading in buying , selling and restoring vehicles they are a shambles and there on this forum !!!!!!!! The catalogue of faults discovered is beyond believe .

  9. Yep garage did my MOT and said needed full shocks changing, took it to a new garage who said noise was front beam and so swapped, cost about a grand in all including mot and still clunking.
Found the issue with the shocks but my trackings well out now :(

  11. I’m surprised it hasent been picked up on the mot

  12. Big elliptical nut on your top ball joint needs adjusting which should sort the tracking and the steering arms. Decent garage should be able to track it.

  13. How about this , when the vehicle was delivered back in February with a fresh 12 months MOT ,The horn didn’t work , the washers didn’t work , speedo didn’t work , two light bulbs missing , missing two wheel nuts , . The local garage owner a friend of mine , laughed in disgust when he saw it !

  14. Just a lesson in knowing how to do it yourself, I live in a mid terrace with a sloping drive plus useless mechanical, you end up paying for that with these vehicles.

Brought back more woeful garage bills, started twitching soon as I played the video.

Standard shocks aren’t going to be the answer if it’s lowered with no bump stops so don’t rush into buying any yet if that’s the case, you’ll need to do some measuring first.
