110a/hrs I believe but may be more.
As for your propex I'll ask @zed to stick a picture up of his heater. He's removed the wheel well completely and fitted his heater in that space. I, for one, wished I'd seen how he'd done it before I fitted mine as it is a superior solution on several levels.

    1. It doesn't use any valuable space inside the van.

    2. The heater noise is not so noticable when camping.

    3. The routes into the van can be easily routed to wherever you wish.

    4. Propex has an annoying habit of pumping cold air for 3 minutes to purge itself when it shuts down. A simple lever would allow this cold air to purge back into the engine bay and not into your nice warm van.

    5. The heater noise is not so noticable when camping.

    6. It doesn't use any valuable space inside the van.

  2. There you go then....if you've got a chest fridge you can duct from the westy vent directly to that...all ducting internal so no need for extra insulation, bar the heated air duct up to the walkthru....

  3. I was having a look at Zed's install and it looks good....my issue is that I've got my consumer unit and soon to be mounted ECU in there....otherwise I'd be doing exactly the same thing.

  4. @Dicky 's very good at thinking around these things....I generally fire all sorts of notions and ideas at him and he sorts them out into a semblance of logic and reasoning.....make sure you have plenty of tea in, if and when he does come round though:D

Thanks sandybay. Please keep the ideas flowing. I'm interested in looking into the battery.
I've spoken to @zed about his heater & battery set up. As always, really helpful but his heater is an eber which is a little different to the propex I've already bought.:( (the Eber is a lot more expensive new but a much better product IMO, we just couldn't afford even a 2nd hand one)
I've gone for the unit that is already designed to be mounted underneath coz of the space issue  (HS2211) I didn't know about the cooldown purge so we'll have to see if that's an issue in practice. Maybe throw a cushion over the vent?;)

You're not joking there. I think it's the devils beverage & was astounded at his need when he helped Clive out that evening:)

  7. the other reason I've suggested heated air up to the walkthru is that it provides an opportunity to run the duct thru a silencer....I'm in the process of making one at the moment and will keep you posted....basically, it's a straight-through perforated stainless tube about 95mm OD, 50 cm long, wrapped in Rockwool, in an aluminium cannister...works fabulously....will design a different type of baffle box for the recirculated air....

Call me anal....I don't care:D Propex's are noisy feckers when you're trying to sleep....

  8. one last suggestion: you can buy thermal/acoustic ducting which has tiny perforations in the liner....i plan to use this for recirculated air, because if it's at head height, it will be more noticeable...I'm aiming for a quiet unstratified set-up , as opposed to cold feet, tropical temperatures an inch from the roof, and a persistent whine when i'm nodding off....

My consumer unit and Ctek charger are in there as well but to be honest there are several other places they could be tucked out of the way as both are almost install and forget.

My real issue with the propex is the cooling down blast of cold air which nicely chills your feet and possibly worse is the sheer noise it makes.
Now that they make an under the van model the noise shouldn't be such an issue but I would put some thought into being able to vent the cold purge air overboard somehow.

As for the fridge we have an absorption fridge, a Dometic, and we can have ice lollies from it on our third day camping without a hookup. I think it would run happily on our leisure battery for 5 days. With your solar panels to trickle charge it you'd be fine for even longer.

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

The cool down cyle is only blowing recycled air from the bus back round, it's not cold air from outside!
    Jeez.

That's the plan chap. Save on campsite fees to pay for all the kit! One day we'll break eveno_O
I'm putting a shower point on the van so Mrs Monkey doesn't have to visit campsites so often. tehe Bit of hot water into the container, she'll be fine...
I just shave my head & go native....
