Had mine installed a good year now no issues. Best usage was dubfeeeze last year kept me and. My brother toasty all night, bloody love the thing.
Hopefully no one will have issues Just keep the batteries fresh in the smoke alarm and CO detector, whatever you've got
If you search around on the internet then yes there has been some issues with a few, mostly poor electrics or poor fitting, some people report issues of smoking or not self priming after not using them for a while. I have read just as many issues about eber, planar and propex heaters over the years too. As said above just be vigilant and use carbon monoxide detectors no matter which heat source you use and all should be well.
My £1000 Webasto on my boat has had odd little issues- its main one is needing a massive battery so the voltage doesnt drop significantly at about 10-15Amps with the glowplug on as it lights up.
All I can add is yes it's convenient to run your heater on petrol. It's one more think not to have to think about running out of. This Webasto will be better than my old eber simply because you can turn it down instead of it cycling every 5 minutes. Don't think I'd have a use for the 7 day timer, I'd go for the simple rotary knob version. Enjoy.
x 2 for a petrol heater - just tee the supply off from the tank . Only seems to be Webasto who do petrol heaters these days. Ebers seem to have lost interest. The old Ebers B1L did just cycle on and off at full blast, giving your battery a 15A whacking as it fired up the glowplug every time it turned back on. My fancy B1LC Compact has four fan/heat speeds, and cycles through them to maintain the set temperature, so not constantly turning off then on again.
Would it be a terrible idea to use a stock wiper washer fluid bottle as the fuel canister? Mounted behind the LHS kickboard. Only a couple of litres, I think, but i’m struggling to see where I could even house a 5L tank anywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Surely the flat 5 or 10 litre tanks would fit behind the kick panel ? I was also thinking about fitting a diesel heater at one point and decided a tank would fit behind a seat or kick panel. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Terrible idea if it’s anything like mine. (Every time you pull the washer stalk you’ll get a lap full of diesel).
Doesn’t look like a flat one would fit, with all the curves and bulbous bit behind the headlight. I keep window insulation behind my seats. Not much room there either as the seats are Recaro, mounted on some DIY brackets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reminds me of when a friend showed me how to pump pressure in to the bottle for the first time. Turned out to be the last time too! Electric pump. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
with a heater you may be able to ditch the window insulation and just have curtains. then you could get a tank behind the drivers seat, making it easier to fill up than if it was behind the kick panels. I just have curtains, no insulation anywhere and no heater. That does limit my camping season. I'm constantly toying with the idea of some heating that would work when camping and when driving, but the cost is massive for petrol and gas options. Don't really want diesel heating as its a 3rd source of fuel to have on board. At the moment the potential gain doesn't justify the potential cost. Instead im going for a simple, cheap, electric hook up which means i can extend my camping season slightly by using an oil filled radiator. This does mean ill have to stay on campsites with electric when i want heating, but that shouldn't be much of a hardship.
Its not pleasurable though when its that cold. I camped outside a friends one new year and we plugged a radiator in, made it much nicer.
Go for one of these if fitting it somewhere is the issue. £100 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Air-dies...138002?hash=item5dbc4d40d2:g:WCkAAOSwZYFfyvLE Leave it at home when you don't need it.
Wondered if insulation would then become redundant. I’m going to secure in situ and put hinges on the kick boards - lots of useful storage space behind for scrapers, rags, defroster etc. The idea of the washer bottle is that the filling neck pokes through a hole anyway. As Mike says, you don’t want to spill diesel, but I wouldn’t want to spill anything. Thinking kerosene as the fuel. Yes, a 3rd source of fuel to remember not to forget. Washer bottle already has everything needed for the setup. Just wasn’t sure if was ‘fuel safe’. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
