Chilli farm steam fair and Kent vw festival 25th to 28th july 2014

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by beatnick, Nov 15, 2013.

  1. Seems that the Steam fair and the dubbers have had a fall out. So the kent vw festival will now be at folkestone racecourse while the Steam fair will be staying put. Both are to be held on the same weekend.I dont know the politics but it seems like a needle match now. The steam fair still encourages VW,s and both camps are touting for scooter clubs. I love a good punch up.

  2. Unfortunately this is to far for us to travel for a good punch up :)

  3. It was something to do with the venue wanting 70% of the takings inc the bar camping etc so it wasn't viable to run the vw show there anymore which is a shame as it was a great venue
(if it didnt rain and my van sunk other than that it was nice ?
I think alot of effort goes into running an event over the year for just a few days and to not even be able to brake even and maybe even make a loss to host the event at chilli farm is why i think its moved to folkstone race course ,
i recon the 2014 event is going to be amazing at its new location its simply an amazing place i attend the war and peace show there and its HUGE !! & great for camping with its ideal indoor venues (incase it rains) , it will hopefully have its own fun fair as it has two areas one for familys inc screenings & activities for the kids plus an indoor auto jumble & indoor restaurants n bars , and an adult bar with bands in an indoor venue which runs late!
sorry no tractors only a few old skool mods n scooters and r & b bands as well as other bands which sound good ,
the camping area is ideal as its close to the indoor showers n toilets and other facilities which will be perfect for me after a few beers trying to find my bus !
i think its simply going to be an exp as its the 1st time at this venue ,
i think it will be like volksworld meets chill n grill in one event
plus its only a few miles from the beach and the A roads to it are a stunning ride ,
its the 1st one there doing at its new venue so i recon they will really need everyones support to make it one of the biggest southeast vw events in kent , & i recon they will be making the effort to make it a safe family friendly camping venue with lots of indoor and out door activities for everyone .

I enjoyed the steam fair more than the dubs, one row of VW's looks much the same as the next and a lot of the better VW's do a lot of shows.

This ^^^ That really is a shame it's had to move, the old tractors, steam fair and other old Machinery made this show different from other shows, I spent most of my time looking round them, it was a great mix of cultures, we can look at the same old dubs anytime, I'll need to go to the great yorkshire show for my fix again now

  6. They are still doing the steam fair , with VWs n stuff , its just wont have many vws or the same peeps running it , i like the mix too , and its a bleed in shame money has ruined a good meet AGAIN but shows are what you make it too , we liked the company well some of um :D. Apex is a good one for those that like something different . We are torn this year with chilli n kent vw , big shame:hattip:

  7. Hi guys and gals, one of the organisers for Chilli Farm Festival 2014 here!

Just to confirm that the partnership between Chilli Farm and Kent VW Festival was unable to continue for 2014 due to the disagreement between how the cost of the show should be split, and how the overall takings should be split between the two partners. One partner came up with a suggestion, to which a disagreement and unfortunate split was decided by the Kent VW side. This is the honest truth, there is no reason for us to lie about it as we are an established show that will continue regardless.

Chilli Farm Festival has been running for 5 years now and we have had great feedback from everyone visiting who loves to see all the Steam/Classics etc mixed in with the Beetles, Campers and Transporters - its a show with a difference! Weekend Camping Tickets are on sale this year at £15 per adult, under 16s go free (earlybird prices) and these are available for you to buy and print at home at http://www.chillifarmfestival.com

We would like to take this opportunity to invite anyone who fancies a fantastic weekend away to come to the show this year, and at a price that many of you will be happy with. We welcome VW Clubs, Scooter Clubs, General Camping and of course exhibitors of other vehicles too.

    Hope this clears it up!

  8. A well written, clear, concise and balanced reasonable reply, well done.

Shame it's wasted on us really!

It's on my list but clashes with le Mans I believe, I suspect funding may be the deciding factor this year so......................................probably see you in July.

  9. I will be booking a traders plot so you better bring loads of money. Seriously though, I will be bringing (as always)loads of old proper stuff ( must find an alternative word for vintage ) for the older generation to say " we had one of those". Cool boxes, picnic sets, sun loungers, melaware in gay colours etc. See you there.

I'm pleased you're half a world away from me otherwise you'd lead me astray & then you would have an irate Ms.T to contend with :eek::theforce:

  13. Come on then, show of hands. Chilli or Kent vw. Not long now folks.

  14. It's this weekend!
We're going to the Chilli Farm for the day on Sunday.

  15. Interested to know how chilli farm was. I went to Kent Vw with other half but really did not enjoy it at all. The venue and the atmosphere was not good. We left and travelled the Kent countryside instead.

  16. Could be a revival of the old days, Mods on the scooters and rockers on the grease machines. Where is my parka and foxtail?

  17. We didn't make it in the end. My daily split a radiator hose and dumped half its coolant on the A2. Luckily we made it home, but Sunday was spent patching it up.

  18. Ok folks I have just read all the arguments about last years Kent vw show - post was locked in the end so I really don't want to reopen all that but I have never been to show yet and I see that this year the Chilli Farm festival and the Kent VW show (headcorn) are on the same day. Can someone please give me some guidance as to which one to go to?
