Welcome from sunny South Londonish

  2. thank you :)

  3. Just an update for my own log really. A lot of you know what’s been going on in my help thread

    Did a compression test

    2 cylinders are 150psi and 2 are 140psi

Fitted a balance pipe using some fuel hose as a test and it idles much much better, need to find something that isn’t so thick to use and route it somewhere

It idles a bit higher now though 1100 on cold then climbs to 1400 when warmed up if memory serves me correctly

and smells like it’s putting a lot of fuel through so probably needs another fiddle lol

  4. Drove him to the shops for a little test run. Ended up going the long way for a road test.

If I accelerate hard the power drops, I think maybe it’s overfueling, it’s a very crashy bangy ride, may need to look at the suspension at some point.

there’s some old glue under the seats, assuming this was used to fit carpet, I wouldn’t mind getting it all cleared off, it’s all in the back compartment too. Anyone got any recommendations to remove it without blistering the paint?

  5. The glue is old contact adhesive for sticking the rubber lining down under the seat and the door rubbers

    Try acetone and elbow grease.
You will damage the paint using a scraper but I can’t see any other way.

Has the bus been tuned properly?

  6. That is a very low bus.
Suspension needs a lot of work to ride well at that height.
Can be done - but takes time effort and lots of dollars (£’s)
You should start again as it obviously isn’t right

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I wouldn't call that so low it wasn't fairly easily sorted out.

I wouldn't get out of first gear before turning around if it wasn't running right.

  8. I’ll try some acetone under the seat and see what happens.

it was tuned, but then I added a balance pipe between the carbs. Might just be a flat spot, there is a suspected air intake leak though.

  9. yeah I don’t think it’s that low, but it shouldn’t be banging the way it does, I understand it will feel crashy lol

    Whereabouts are you based Mike?

Peter Burgess in Alfreton has rolling road facilities & between him and Keith, they will have the bus tuned for you (and they may have the correct jets if any are needed).

A few of us on here have used Peter in the past with good results.

    HTH :)

One of those steam wands to even a wallpaper steamer would be worth ago on the adhesive.

  12. Xylene thinners and a plastic implement for scraping to remove the contact adhesive but it will be a slow process.
You need to check your fuel pressure as that regulator you have may not be dropping the fuel pressure enough or at all
If your fuel pressure is too high
It will overcome the float needle valve and cause over fuelling, bore wash and possibly fill your crankcase up with fuel.

  18. No reason a bus at that height can’t ride well. You need to work out how it’s been modified - shouldn’t be crashy.

re the glue residue - I tried everything to clean mine, nothing worked, it was as hard as metal. I didn’t want to wire-wheel it and damage the og paint so I just left it and put some nice mats over the top

  19. Going to be busy this weekend. Fit all this lot and measure valve clearances.

what sealant do I need to fit barbs?

Free drink for correct answer of what’s here lol

  20. Ok thank you for the advice. I will probably just leave it, it’s a lot of work for an area that cannot be seen lol
