  1. Is it complex to change an early pop-top (with the 2 separate hammocks) to a late one pop-top(the bigger)?

  3. no i mean the original westfalia
The old one opened at the rearside and had a bigger luggage rack, the new one has the luggage rack in front and the roof is also opening from the frontside

Hi guys i run vwcampervanroofs. You can change your early Westy roof to a late Westy roof and you don't have to cut the hole any bigger meaning you get to keep your lovely hole surround and wooden headlining. But because you are not cutting the curve out of the roof you have to store your bed foam downstairs when the roof is closed.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    oh man why ??.

the early roof's are so much better looking dude -- and if you hit a height bar with the poptop up it just goes down - no damage :)

It's all about space man. The late roof gives you a proper double bed in the roof most of the early roofed US vans coming over only have the single hammock in them and the European early bays only have the single cot. If you've got more than one kid and those kids are over six or seven the late roof means you can accomadate them. If it's a choice between getting rid of the van because you've run out of space or fitting a different roof i'll take the roof.

Sometimes it's best to even be late to the late party. Rear hinged is best :)
