Can't find background buzzing noise on stereo

  1. I had this problem, after doing many of the things suggested before and I ended up with reduced noise but still had it. Looked on many audio forums and followed the suggestion of changing my rca leads for shielded ones. No more noise

I would be shocked if a set of RCA phono leads werent shielded to start with. However , the amount of copper included in the average cost-cutting production is very small, a proper copper braid shield is quite a lot of metal.

We live in a world where a complete minimum cost lead from China comes in at say £1 , while the same thing made properly in the West or China should cost £10.We all bought the cheap ones so the quality supplier goes out of business, or works out they can buy the £1 one, change the box sell it for £2 with their branding , and make £1.

You probably could have measured the DC resistance of the shields of the old and new cables to compare them - the old cables would have a higher shield resistance than the new ones, so the fraction of the head unit power current that is still trying to go down the shield of the new cable drops less voltage , so there is less audio noise.

  4. That would imply the amp is being (properly) grounded by the screens of the phono leads. What power connections have you got on the amp?

  5. I will get pictures
