Hey Good Folks Thought I would ask the font of TLB knowledge - normally get the right answer. Can you be the registered keeper of a vehicle without a current driving licence? Would like to put our recent purchase into my name on the registration certificate, however, I have had to surrender my driving licence due to health reasons - hopefully only for a couple more months, can I legally register the vehicle now in my name without a current driving licence? Thanks in advance Mrs B
I would have thought owning a motor vehicle and driving it are two different things so I agree with BS. I can't see why not either.
Thanks guys There is one sure way to find out and that's do it! The other problem is its the vehicles first UK Registration! Fingers crossed! I have enclosed a covering letter to explain the situation so hopefully there won't be any problems! I just want to get the bus on the road! Even if I can't drive it for the moment!
On a vaguely related note, a long time back I got fined for keeping a car on the road with no tax etc. It wasn't going anywhere and I was fixing it up, but I got snitched on by a neighbour. Thing is I didn't mind the fine so much as getting points on my licence. What would have happened if I hadn't had a licence?
In short, the points would be 'held' for when you did get one, it's the same mechanism as is used for under-age joyriders.
