Great location on an island in the middle of the Loire! The site is only a couple of minutes walk from the old town of Amboise. Shaded pitches with electricity. The only downside is the toilet / shower blocks are not the cleanest but to be fair half of them were closed for refurb during our visit. The first time we went there they were fine! Worth it for the location
Hi, I'm staying near blois next week, admitidly in a villa and not my van, but was there anything that you would recommend to do / see?
Here you go: http://www.venere.com/blog/blois-things-to-do/ or http://www.lonelyplanet.com/france/the-loire/blois/things-to-do There are also canoe hire places all along the Loire where you can get 1 - 4 person canoes. They all provide buoyancy aids etc. You can do anything from a short paddle to a whole day and many of the hire places arrange return transport etc.
Loire valley ... loads to see and do! For starters .... Amboise - Leonardo Di Vinci museum - focus is on the inventive side rather than the paintings (long time since we went so presume it is still there!) Chateau's galore!! If you don't mind a drive then head over to Terra Botanica at Angers ... good day outSaumur is a further along as well (not as far as Angers) but there are the mushroom caves (!!), Ackermann sparkling wine (yum yum)Doue La Fontaine has a really nice zoo that is in an old quarry ... have to play spot the animals at times coz they have so much good habitat and / or huge space I could go on ... lots to do, nice countryside, nice wine Kind of depends what you like to do. Remember if you are planning on swimming in a public pool you are most likely to need speedos ...
