  1. Another few hours cleaning ::)

Added another great tool to the professional waxoyl removers armoury though - a Homebase paint scraper - even better than my blunt chisel. Beware waxoyl, I'm armed and dangerous O0

Got the back finished this evening so that's all the scraping for now. Will hit the inaccessible bits with the media blaster next and see what that uncovers. The rear inner wheel arches aren't too bad surprisingly, just a bit of corrosion at the back and on the lip - the rest I reckon I might save :)

Note the lovely clean OG paint on the top of the engine bay where the insulation has been removed :)

And whilst all this was going on....... had got an offcut of railway line from a mate and am cutting it into 3 pieces - 6", 12" & 18". Why? It makes a great former for metal shaping/making panels and infills. Strong and heavy enough to sit on the bench and not move, with nice curves and straight edges you can form around :D

Only downside is it takes half a day just for one cut even with the mechanical hacksaw

Still - progress being made

  2. Go for the new deformation panel, once it's cut out it'll give you access to the inside of the inner valance as well which needs repairs. I found the repro deformation panel was better pressed than the genuine(brazil) one! It's not often that happens!!
Looking good underneath now, it's quite theraputic scrapping all the schutz/ underseal off ;)

  3. yeah i was hoping to save some of the front bottom end of my van but in the end i decided to replace the lot
    :)

A few different sized off cuts will be coming home with me tomorrow ;)
I will be cutting mine with a rail saw straight through in about a min >:D

  6. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    I love a piece too.

  7. Got the media blaster rigged up this afternoon and got stuck in to the underside of the floor and top hats.

Actually looks better than I thought,

    [IMG][IMG]

Main central top hats are pretty much OK, couple of probs on the edge of the floors but we know that from looking inside! The end tops hats by the outriggers will need patching or maybe replacing.

Forgotten how blasted messy this job is though - going to have to improve the screening in the workshop though as everything is covered in dust!!! ::)

    Cheers

  8. underside is looking pretty tidy mate :)

the media blasting will save you hours, what are you going to be painting the underside with?

  9. Going to be done in 2k epoxy primer tinted as close to the original blue as I can get it, couple of coats of that then probably some clear stonechip so it looks like paint but with the added protection of stonechip.

All the box sections will get done with 3M equivalent of waxoyl.

    ;D

  12. Tell me about it :(

Took 2 weeks hols in the summer to make some "real" progress and just needed to get my T25 through its MoT first. 10 days later........... >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

Didn't get to do anything on Rusty and now work is manic and house needs sorting before winter and, and, and, ::)

Keep reading threads on here to keep me going!
