That time of year again, for me.
    Been quoted £180.00 full comp.
    Is that good?

What do you get for that? Agreed value? Mileage limit?
It’s coming up time for mine too.... my current insurer have kept last years price, with a limit of 3000 miles and a 19k value. Price was similar to your quote, fractionally lower from memory.
Might phone to see about tweaking the numbers, but can’t see I’ll be doing huge mileage this year so 3000 is probably okay.

<edit> It was £148 now I've got home and looked at the quote.

    £145 ... 7k miles and £20k agreed valuation.
No recovery as I have a policy that covers all our vehicles.
But, I'm old and it's garaged.

  5. You are all doing better than me!

Mine is well over 200. I do have a higher mileage limit, I have to travel further to get to most events and it's a camper policy rather than a classic vehicle policy, this means less restrictions on use, although it's moot if I'd ever use many of these 'extras'. Three months abroad is a nice to have but I have never got even close to that, perhaps I will when I retire  I do have so-called agreed value, however.

The Bug, is on a classic policy and works out at a tenner a month, if anything, I always think that's the car I should pay more for , but I don't.

  6. mine is not covered for use abroad - i would add that if i was planning a foreign trip but not likely at the moment.

  7. Talking of policy restrictions, many classic vehicle policies don't cover you for commuting, again that might not be an issue, but it's worth noting when you renegotiate, especially if you enjoy running your Bus to work on the odd nice day. That was something I looked for in a camper policy; it does allow me to travel to places via a day at the office, when I went into an office, that is....

My policy is about £330, £12k agreed value, stored outside, 10k miles, foreign travel allowed.

It cost £10 extra for commute to work.

All my cars cost about the same.

3,500 miles per year and agreed valuation is £19k.

  10. Mine was £180

3k mileage, £14k agreed, stored on drive, lowered 2" all round, UK and European breakdown with onward journey and homestart, legal protection and another named driver, SDP (no commuting) I'm 33 years old.

With a company called ClassicLine and underwritten by Ageas (I think). Been with them for about 7 years and the are very good and have been consistently competitive.

Mention TheLateBay forum and you will get a club discount too.

I've only got 30 days European cover .. Next year "might" need more ... but who knows.

  12. Interesting to see your agreed values on this (thanks for sharing). Last year I went up from £12k to £14k with zero change to my premium so always worth checking. I sent them new pics but that was all they needed.

  13. I'm with Classicline and with 10% club discount paid £158 in November last year. That's with full EU breakdown cover but only 3000 miles, no agreed valuation, no commuting and with the van kept in a garage overnight. Maybe I paid too much?

Peoples prices aren’t really relevant as a large proportion of the price is based on your location.

  15. Paying too much ??
    Really ??
    That's not even 3 quid a week

Suppose you've asked for a Covid refund as well ...

At the end of the day it's a legal requirement but cheaper isn't always better and in my experience the European cover isn't worth the paper it's written on. Suffice to say I had an alternator pulley issue and despite many phone calls from the Austrian campsite they were hopeless so I sorted it out myself with help from the son of the site owner who took me on a tour of local breaker yards , managed to get all the bits except the woodruff key which I picked up from a Husqvarna chain saw shoppe and I was on mi way the day after but 3 days wasted trying to get the call centre to understand the basic parts I needed - clueless...

  16. My comment was only in response to what others were paying, I assumed an agreed valuation might bump the premium up quite significantly but it seems not. It's something I'll look into at renewal time. As it happens I actually consider what I pay to be cheap - or at least really good value.

Wouldn't know about Covid refunds (honestly, is that a thing?), I've worked all but 6 weeks throughout the whole pandemic, from a personal perspective, economically I've been completely unaffected.

As for breakdown cover, in the van I've yet to have the misfortune of ever having to use it - always waiting for the first time though!

With Just Kampers insurance , the agreed valuation is a flat fee of £15.

  18. I'm going through the process of (re)importing my '78 Westfalia to the UK. Which companies are you guys using for your insurance? I saw mention of ClassicLine. I tried Just Kampers but they p*@55(d me off because they made me fill out all the data online and then someone rang me and asked me for all the same information again!

I'm hoping that you guys can help me avoid filling out the same info 20 times to get a decent quote.

    Thanks.

JK covered me on chassis number until it was registered in UK, when I had to start again with a reg number.
