Any one out there tries to tell you " them old vw's crumple like paper please show them these pics , I was passing this Citroen Cactus ( or Craptus as i call it) and the driver decided to reverse away from the side of the road without looking and clouted my van as i passed. There was a hell of a thump and i just though OH NO MY BUMPER!!!!! MY STEP!!!! MY DOOR!!! ££££££££££££ .after getting out and checking everyone was alright i edged round to my front corner with one eye closed and was pleasantly surprised . After geting home i whipped off the bumper and half an hour later it was straightened and back on with no damage behind at all .PHEW!!!! IMG_1401.JPG IMG_1400.JPG

It was a glancing collision I’m guessing by the pictures. I think the bay would have still faired better if it was a more direct collision I reckon.

The mattress on the side of the Craptus didn't help it much.

I nearly had a Chrysler Crossfire today as the old bloke driving it was looking left while turning left onto a main road and who looked surprised when i honked at him as if i was in the wrong . Which reminds me i need a better horn , one that doesn't sound like the van is suffering from depression .

Good OG not Brazilian bumper. Two doors, two wheel arches. You might have scored a writeoff.

A scratch would be a write off on a Cactus...

A duck quacking with a sore throat is a description that springs to mind.

  13. "Pathetic Bleat" is more the sound of the stock horn.

  14. Seems to be a lot of negativity about the Citroen Cactus. I can only guess that this is coming from non Cactus owners.

  15. Yes, because its us non-owners that have to look at the horrible things!

  16. I actually like the looks of these - good to be different. I test drove one of the latest ones but didn't really like it tbh.

You can't do "angry blast" on a bay horn unfortunately - even if you press really hard it'll just come out as a happy "toot toot".

That's funny how much damage it did to the craptus in comparison!

Its a "brave" move to fit more rubbish plastic trim on vehicles.
The last few years have not been good for car styling and its obvious how superficial the protection offered by these plastic warts actually is.
Another sign you are meant to throw it away when the lease is over before the cost of replacing bits of trim that fell off becomes crippling.

  19. It’s actually a nice car to drive. Comfortable, roomy, economical. I like mine. In fact I’m on my second one.

  20. I unfortunately rear-ended a new Ford Fiesta ST last Summer after it did an emergency stop in front of me. My bus failed the brake test so to speak! Ok, so my front panel needed replacing afterwards and I was pretty heartbroken about that, but my bus drove through the rear 1/3rd of the Fiesta. It was toast. Thankfully no-one was hurt. Modern cars are made of plastic and designed to crumple on impact. 40+ old VWs are not. Don’t mess!
