  1. It happened to me in my life and yes it is inconvenient. Try to put redundancy in perspective, it is not about you as a person, its about your employer having to change and it would not be easy for them to let staff go.

So many folks on here have experienced the same as you are now and others are fed up with their jobs and are looking for something new.

Be positive, you are now free to do whatever you want and you are in charge.

You may not find what you want in a job straightaway, so take whatever is around just to bring in some cash. Start looking right now, don't leave it.

I don't know what your job was and what your skills are, write down your skills and job experience as you may need to prepare a cv.

Money will be tight for a while so you need to budget. Find out now about your benefits entitlement, you paid in so why not.

Hopefully you will find as I did, that redundancy frees you up to try other things which you would never have done stuck in your old job.

I am well retired now, but I see the world of work changing fast and you have to learn new skills and adapt to change.

Keep a smile and don't let it get you down.

Now you have to decide whether to "safe and sound" into another job with barely a break or take advantage and have some time off. Not a bad position to be in. :)

  3. Good luck, the money should help while you decide what to do.

Wasn't you effectively a 'contractor' for imperial tobacco. Can you work with them direct and cut the middle man out. Presume you made some contacts in your time?

    It's all done.
Dumped my laptop and phone off at the office yesterday, and the car disappeared off into the sunset a couple of hours ago.
Happy days; up at 12 tomorrow, daytime telly and a skinful of Special Brew.

It's fate. What can you do? Trust me I've been trying to steer it for a few years now and it's not possible. Very difficult anyway, you got to be bloody minded.
