bitching/swearing/offending on forum 'please read'

    like in real life if you have issue with what someone has posted pm them try to get it sorted that way. DO NOT get all mrs jakie chan on the open forum as it brings it down and we've worked hard setting it up to be a friendly family place.

    if you have issue with what a mod has written follow the above but if you feel not listened to then pm an administrator.


    keeping on topic- not too bothered about general chat area as that is what it is after all, however in the other areas if it's not on topic it will be removed. however if the topic is felt to be going in direction of upsetting people it may get pulled or locked, in that case we can't pm everyone who has posted on the thread.

    remember it is a friendly forum, there are plenty out there to choose from so if you don't like the tlb way it's up to you whether you stay or go.

    think before you post, would you say it in public? would you letch on someone if their partner was stood with them?

    thought i'd say this here and then no one can moan when it happens.

    please remember everyones humour is different, some is very close to the line or at times will cross over it but generally speaking i do not think that anyone sets out to cause offence.


    SWEARING/ OFFENSIVE COMMENTS- as you know this is one of our main rules as it's a family site. since the rebuild the filter isn't set up fully and some awords are coming through. we can't mod every part of the forum but hopefully we don't need to. also please do not make comments or statements that could be deemed racist, gnomeist or homophobic

    please enjoy the forum and if you want us to look at a specific post press 'report to moderator' on bottom right of the box

    People need to understand that 'context' is very difficult to achieve purely via text. facial expressions and body language is missing from the conversation and as such it can be easy to misunderstand what some people are typing. Some people are much better at getting what they are trying to say across purely with the written word than others. My view is always give people the benefit of the doubt and dont take things seriously.


    Flaming and trolling have always been issues in forums and if a thread offends you stay out of it. Racism offends me so therefore i dont attend BNP meetings.


    Remember CONTEXT is missing from the conversation and youre understanding of the comment may be wrong.


    btw i like banter. I enjoy a bit of a fun insult. So put me on the list of those who are unlikely to be offended.

    Totally agree I had a look at a banger racing forum the other night and content was who was going to do whatever to another person etc - The Vw world is like the world of Hot Rods, a common cause all like mined people helping each other thats the correct way to go about things, if you have issues take them up in private.

    Hear hear, if anyone has to start putting disclaimers on their posts then either don't write that comment or people are starting to take things too seriously on the forum. It's a bit like saying 'I don't mean to offend...but...'

    If you wouldn't say it in real life don't say it on a forum and if you take offence of a post, take 10 seconds out and forget about it or pm the person.

    Can we set up a Late Bay boxing ring so that people who argue can slug it out, if it gets really nasty they can take their gloves off, perhaps they can take a Bay window item as a weapon just to make it more interesting.
    We can make the looser where a pink baby grow as punishment. :)

    Speaking as a VW enthusiast that no longer owns a late bay, the reason I hang about this forum as oppose to any other - is that this one was always a friendly place with no swearing, bitching or any other unpleasentness. It has always been a place which I happily shared with my family, including my 11 year old daughter - not having to turn the screen saying 'this is unsuitable'. The forum my not have reflected real life, but that was where the beauty was - a nice place to escape to. So come on guys, lets get back to where we were and make this a nice place to be again.
