    Hi all,

I need to buy a bike rack.

The fiamma rack from Amazon doesn't specify vw T2.

Can someone (in the know) :D post a link or give details as to which one I need to buy.

    Thanks.

Planning our end of summer holiday.

Do any of the reviews underneath the Amazon ad specify which bus it fits? I think Just Kampers sell the T2 specific rack. Or if you have tow bar there’s plenty of good tow bar racks, some tilting so you can still open the tailgate.

I have managed to get a generic Halfords bike rack to work as I have a towbar so it sits on that , and all the hooks , arms and loops intended for a Peugeot 307 hatchback or 307 SW fit the tailgate.
The rack is designed to use a towball if you have one, not require it. Otherwise it would sit on the bumper..

Can open the engine hatch a little not the tail gate.

Its an angry metal spider covered in webbing straps.

Go to Halfords and try whatever they have in stock for fit.

This is it on the ground. Didnt take a picture with it on the bus, sorry. The upward facing bit goes against the bus, bikes hang from the arms nearest the camera.

Hi. I was chatting to @gratboyslim about his bike rack (Fiamma T2) and was wondering if anybody has one fitted to a late bay westfalia? My poptop comes very close to the rear hatch when the hatch opens and the bike rack looks like it could hit the pop top. Any experience?

  7. @Chrisd good to meet you! I don’t know why I didn’t think of it at the time, but we should have physically tried it! It’s only 4 bolts I think

I have/had one on my ’77 Westy with no problems with the rack being close to the pop-top. No pics I’m afraid and the rack isn’t on the bus at the moment.

  9. If you’ve got a tow bar, the Thule clamp-on type works well.

Thanks all for the info as I've managed to find one on gumtree so I can confirm to the seller, so thanks for the replies everyone.

...but unless I'm mistaken it's putting some pretty good dents in your tailgate?

There was a Fiamma T2 rack on our Moonraker double top when we bought it. It didn't foul on the roof, but yes, dents in the tailgate

It's now cluttering up the garage, but Mrs Norris has notions of using it one day...

  14. Mine came with the Fiamma as part of the deal, front hinged Westy, fitted fine but it does obscure the rear view a tad.

  15. The previous owner didn't have that problem on mine but his bike was a lightweight racing thing.

I picked up my new (old) second had rack yesterday and fitted it quite easily. A question for those who have the Fiamma. The red circular ratched that unscrews to drop the cycle stands, do they open completely so that the ratched red hinge opens smoothly or do they only open so far and you open the rack with the teeth of the ratchet clunking past each other?

PS, the rack does not touch the Westie roof when it is closed but does touch the roof when the roof is open.

  17. Hi ya, glad you got one!

I presume you mean the bits you unscrew to drop down the frame. I only open them so it’s loose and it clicks down.

Exactly this. Open a bit and then it clicks down.

  19. i think its just the funny reflection - i just took a look in the garage and it doesn't look like its deformed..? I'll pull it off at the weekend and take a proper look.

  20. I got a second hand Fiamma one. It fits a treat, I did put some helicopter tape under the brackets however to protect the paintwork, I presume when you buy a new one it comes with it.
