Best French car ever?

  1. Stuart at Brodie Engineering is the man to talk to re SM's....

  2. Peugeot used to build cars suitable for the French colonial territories in North Africa so they had to be rugged, reliable and able to run on unmade roads.

  3. Terrordales

    Terrordales Nightshift

They didn't last too well out here in Australia, which was a shame really, & our roads are as bad as the ones in North Africa

I bought one ( hc ) from my brother in law. The engine was shot but it was in good nick. I took it to a friends for storage and rebuilt the engine in my shed. when I went to fit it the car had been stolen!

I had a mk iv as a company car after my Allegro estate that smelled like goats wee. The previous user was the company rep and he showed a prize goat that he took about in the Allegro estate. yuk

  20. I've enjoyed reading this thread but nobody has mentioned the XM. My mother bought one brand new in the early 90's. It was like the starship enterprise. She had it about 18 months before she returned to BMW who gave her a pittance in part exchange but it was a spectacular car. Electric everything, automatic, a display that gave you messages, full leather and a pad with a code number to start the car. It was a light metallic green, amazing for its time. The 5 series she bought afterwards was like stepping back in time.
