Just for a contrast seeing as we have done German and British cars to death, and even though it's probably a contradiction in term or just an affront to our sanity. I wondered what you would consider the best French production car ever? I am going to plump for the wonderfully designed Citreon 2cv. It was aircooled too! Do you have a favourite French car?
Oh. I thought I was going to see a French car in a crusher or at the bottom of a lake or something How disappointed am I? I think the best French car ever is the Bugatti Veyron. Second best is the Smart arse
Ah, so you mean a mass production car then. No, I can't think if one. All French cars are hateful things, we should build a wall around France and empty the Somerset levels into it
Had a Citroen BX, top motor. Ex spanner monkey's work motor so was good mechanically, but dripping with sump oil all over the interior. Mrs P hated it. When starting it on the street the kids would run over and start singing the Thunderbirds theme as it raised itself into the air. Brilliant and mad.
I have driven a ds. Semi auto with hydrolastic suspension. It felt like how I imagined a Rolls Royce should drive.
The fastest I ever got my old 2cv going was when we towed it down the scrappies. Other frenchies I had were renault 4 ,fun but rattly, renault21 savannah estate, lovely to drive but you could watch the rust forming, renault 14, great car til the chassis rotted out.
I drove a 2CV I was lent when my Beetle was having some work done...loved it. Loved my Renault 5 too, and also drove an early 5 with the column shift like the 2CV....
