So - the Pickup is at 81a VW Services in Southport. John - the owner - posts updates on FB so the owner can see what is being done. I'm going to post some of the pictures up on here as we go along. It's worth having a look at their FB pages to see what they are working on.

Here are the first few as the strip down commences....

It looks really good in the pictures - but there is a fair bit going on under the surface. I'll be pleasantly surprised if nothing grim is uncovered. It's a bit strange waiting to see what gets posted up on FB

  9. I can imangine, just waiting to see what photos turn up. Im sure it will be all fine. it looks solid just a bit of bubbling on the panels.

Borrowing these pictures from FB so some are coming out a bit tiny. Some of this could probably be filled again but I'm going for new metal where possible. Trying to work out if we can use an Early pickup side panel with a late rear arch added on because it looks like a late bay side isn't available.

So - progress report, Now dubbed 'Bern's Log Wagon' by John at 81a...

Driver's side panel is looking to be filled to a disturbing depth - so looking to replace it if possible. The vents are going to be the hardest part to repair. Auto Craft do a panel for an early pickup but we are waiting to find out when we can get one, and sort out the rear arch.

  18. If you're planning on keeping those wheels and tyres and get him to swap them over for a gash pair I stock wheels whilst he's doing the work
    :)

    Good point

  20. If you do find somewhere that does late bay rear arches let me know as may be interested at some point. Also the canvas is fantastic (thanks again ), but if possible could you take some measurements of your hoops when you get 5 minutes.
