Don't let @beatnick see this, he'll be off like a shot to stock up The Emporium ;)

Mrs Majorhangover and beatnick like this.
  2. How long did you stay Liz?
How long did it take to get there?
    Which ferry?
Oh and your gearbox left here at about 4pm. :)

  3. Erm we sort of did the trip over 10 days getting the 7.00 am ferry to Calais then driving to Senonches (about 200 miles) staying one night then going on to a little place just outside Cahors (300 miles) but it was a little too quiet so we only stayed one night (which meant we got an extra night at Carcassonne!) We then headed off to Mirepoix (134 miles) which is where the airstream place is stopping off at Saint Cirq La Popie which is genuinely one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Then on to Carcassonne (36 miles) for 3 nights then we started heading back via Chateauroux and Rambouillet. Incidentally Cahors is STUNNING!

    Awesome holiday!

Thanks so much for the gearbox @Top Banana Racing, I'll try and make sure Dave doesn't break this one before we get ours fixed!!

  4. Great tips. We're off to France in the green machine this summer for a few weeks. If running well we might venture as far south as Carcassonne, does look good.

If you do, come back up the A75 towards Clermont Ferrand. Amazing volcanic landscape & worth a lazy few days exploring.

  6. Thanks. I'm a geologist by training... what the family won't know about the strata by the time I have finished....

30 miles after new gear box fitted...on the way to KensCustoms for trimming...3 weeks before trip to France...oil seal failure on M6! Thanks to all other Vdubbers that honked horns and mouthed 'oil leak!', the T25 who pulled in with us to the services to help and other 'MadDog' who chatted while we waited for the RACketeers to turn up...bless em. Our MOT had expired (oops) by 4 days and as a result the RACketeers wouldn't take us onwards so we had to fork another £200 for haulage. I keep telling myself it could have been worse, we could after all have been on the way to France! Happy Dayz.
