It's not untill you start cleaning one small piece of tinware for example, that you start to realise how much time and effort it takes. Hats off to people who build show cars. They must be slightly mad. ( and have loads of spare time ).
Saw this in the flesh yesterday and although it looks good in the pics its looks amazing close up. Hats of for all the hard work and time you have put in mate.
I remade the baffle's with MDF Painted black And lights fitted in the routed angled grooves for some engine lighting
Cheers chaps. Final touches done today. I've become a bit of an en'fuse'iast (sorry l just couldn't resist) which is why it wasn't finished last night. Maybe a tad over kill but l decided l wanted to fuse the fuel pump, 2 chokes and split charging relay in a single box. Not all circuits were fused and the ones l wanted to use in keeping with VW just looked awful. This way l get to have just 2 wires on the coils + side keeping it looking neater.
Get in the game mate - you've got an oily finger print on the door frame and there is a rather large spec of dust under the lights to the bottom right :. You should get down to the Cath Kidston shop and buy one of them dusters on a stick. They are functional with a design which is rather pleasing to the eye and very campervanish, like polka-dots etc
That engine bay is so spanking, it's gonna be great for you when you start to misfire on a cold rainy morning, you can get on your knees and set the points, with the proud knowledge that you can do do without getting all oily :
Hi Birdy, earlier in the thread you mentioned thread inserts in the firewall panel... have you got any pics of them? I should have mine back from powdercoating on Friday and it had crossed my mind that the screws holding the fuel pump and so on looked a little pants!!
Looks awesome, I'm literally about to start the same job tomorrow and your bus is very similar yellow to mine so this thread has been really useful to read through!
