  1. Here's my story:

Owning an old VW van was my teenage dream that waited for 15 years to become reality...I almost forgot about it until one day I saw one ad....a guy was selling "regularly maintained, low mileage, green bus in great condition". I knew it had to be mine...all I had to do was to convince my wife that we needed it :) I had to use all of my negotiation skills including words "curtains", "pillows", "flowers", "hippy", "camping on weekends" etc. (actual plan was to make real-men's, rat-look, slammed bus with loud stereo system :D )
Two days later our bus was in our yard.....ten days later, after lots of internet research I realized that our bus wasn't regularly maintained at all, that it wasn't THAT "low mileage vehicle" and that it wasn't bus at all....it was a panel that someone converted into a bus. Disappointment was huge.
So, few months later, when I sold that one and started to search for another one, a guy I knew, approached to me and said that he has ex-ambulance bus without engine in repairable state that he would give to me almost for free. So our ( I must say our because all that you see that was done on the bus was done just by my wife and me) project started.

At the end I must admit that I'm really glad that it didn't become real-men's, slammed bus with loud stereo system. :D

Your van is still looking good :). Do they use salt on the roads in Croatia? You don't look like you have any rust?

Good use of negotiating words with your wife! :)

  3. Hi!
I've been away for few days, so sorry for late answer....
About the rust....and salt....you have probably noticed puzzles on the side of our van-it is actually the easiest way to cover rusty spots as they appear :) it looks like that at the end we shall have white van :) not bad at all ;)

  4. Nice bus, does the roof fan still work ?

  5. Yes it does, but I don't find it very usefull....airflow is very mild...opening quarter window is much better for cooling down vans interior in the move. When the van is standing still, it's hot anyhow. I presume, as it was an ambulance van, that fan's main purpose was to make passage for patients soul to get out ;)

  7. Hi,
do you have more photos of the 'before state' from the inside?
Do you still have card that goes on the wall between passanger and driver cabin ? I need the dimensions
This is ex ambulance from what I can see. I also own one :)

  8. No, this photo is all I've got...all the others got stuck on bad hard disc :(
And unfortunately I don't have any interior parts besides that chair and window from the barrier.
