Yes, your probably saying "why in the first place !" Well in my defense I brought a set of resprayed wheels and new tyres off ebay and assumed that they were "propa" whitewall. They weren't but I had them anyway. I read up on them and and ignored the warnings Anyway - travelling back from my France Tour (thread comming soon to Holidays forum ) I heard a thud from the nearside wheel arch and investigated at the next services - filling up AGAIN. I found this Some may say "what's wrong with that ?" It should look like this .......... On further inspection I found this on (?) the nearside rear. I've done about 8ooo miles with these in tact and that may be the normal life of them. I was cruseing about 65 mph for quite a while so maybe they just didn't like that Probably OK if you are happy tootleing around town and not doing distance. Not for me
Looks better without them anyway. Too white against the colour of the steel. God I sound like Laurence Llewelyn Bowen.
You can pick up proper white wall commercial tyres for about £50 each on ebay at different times of the year - they seem to be about £60 at the moment though. I think I might slowly replace my tyres as they wear with the ebay ones rather than mess around with paint etc myself although I'm still not sure if l90d steelies and white walls are needed
I'm on a serious cost benefit quest as I'm seriously over spending what the Van's worth. And still want a respray and my dash refurbished! However when mine wear out proper whites then
