Oh all right then, its the rattle gun and friction weld/ chew the holes out until the rivnuts come out.. , or wedge a screwdriver in there, or mole grips from behind, or drill the heads off the bolts ... Or just deciding that no matter how little you like the wheel carrier it hasnt rotted off the bus so it might as well stay there, because of the nasty mess you will have to weld up after it has gone.
Just to report that apparently the spare wheel bracket is now off and in the bin No tales of trauma ... but there might be some swearing when the badge doesn't cover it all up
True. But a guy reversed into my bus last week then lied about it (I caught him on the dashcam) and because the tyre was there he didn’t hit the front skin. I guess until I remove the tyre I won’t know if there was any damage
If your wheel got shunted then you almost certainly have a dent in your front panel, which is another reason I don't like them.
Stupid taking it off then , difficult/costly to make a perfect repair so why bother ?? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
If you dont want to weld up the holes, it can be easier if you peen the holes so they are at the bottom of depressions then cover over with the fibreglass loaded filler then fair off with the normal filler. If you just slap filler in the holes and sand it off flat it can crack as it tries to hang onto the edge of the metal. it would work better if you could smooth it over on the inside so its sticking to the inside of the panel
So it turns out the new badge had the same bolt spacing as the bracket .... No filling, peining, welding or painting etc. One lucky newbie or what?
He must have had a bracket that was made to fit existing badge holes? ... or it's one of the MANY advantages of having an early (bigger badge)
