ill be sad but i cant buy a car through the winter the ex has failed at paying the 4.5k owed and has said to pay it back 300 a month...which wont get me a car...ill be doing the final fling itll be our vinnies last show then he can be sold! grr...ex's who needs them! :(

  2. Have you thought of using the van throught the winter? We use Wilma all year round and Julie used her as a daily driver (through snow etc) before she got her car done. It was a case of ski wear and blankets as our heating was a rubbish, but she did the job!

  3. well someone tampered with my heating and never put it right...actually there was a few things they were fiddling with and left more fiddled lol......-_- i use it as a daily drive now...but hes going to be outside in the carpark the whole winter...if i keep him

  4. Wilma was outside, didn't do her alot of good but she was ok. Only real difficulty was starting after very cold, wet nights, toook a bit longer than usual.

  5. well i am gonna try and use it this winter ,got the heaters working ok so we will see ,saying that i will see how keen i am after the first frost lol

  6. first frost in Fort William , is that towad the end of next week then? ;)

  8. I thought you brave Scots didn't call it cold until your neck deep in the white stuff :))

  9. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I've always used all mine through the winter no problem. They always seem to start whatever the weather. Just a wee bit cool inside if you're going far, but it saves taking off your hat and scarf everytime you get in. :) Washing the salt off the underneath now and again might help though I've never bothered myself. Keep it.

  10. lol just filled him up £53.00 tapped the teeny spitty fuel guage ive put in him on an add on below the dash with a bit i bought from maplins to alter the 6-12v issue and it showed full and went to empty when i parked him up and switched him off so thats working :)....and with the smiley wavey people and a tub of no nails in my hand im off to stick the chequerboard plating back on top of the coolbox and storage lid and yeah i cant give him up lol........so ill photo the heating bits and see what mess the mechanic did to him and if i can figure out whats not connected up in the engine bay....... :(...there was quite a bit! anyone got a sliding door card they dont need and any other cards need one behind the drivers seat and the nearside one after the sliding door to finish him off.....also after a rear door spare wheel holder and ladder!...then i think hes done....apart from trying to bribe zed into doing my windows cheap! :p

  11. I thought he had a respray when you bought him?
Did they refit old perished rubbers or did they just mask them off

Im sure theres enough help on here to talk you through fixing your heating

  12. his front was sprayed...have to say that was pretty nice but there are issues with the rest nothing huge or expensive everything on that wasnt modified only thing i found was the eberspracher heater pump under if anyone needs one and thermostat sadly the window side rubbers are all perished pretty badly and the roof but thats not a huge expensive thing pounds instead of many hundreds and certainly one of the soundest rust free (almost ...front pan under has some rust) busses you will find so ive not got anything much to worry about ive moved the inside around this afternoon and making a sufboard table which ill fit next week so im pretty pleased with what ive done nancy did notice the back tyre is almost flat LOL! grrr ill pump that up tomorrow! time to give my now sticky bandgaed hand a rest !

  14. Keep it and use it through the winter. I did all last year as the van is my main car. I've got pattern heat exchangers. so the heat output isn't that great - but it will clear the windscreen ......after about 5 miles  ;)

Just wrap up warm for the longer trips. get rid of him now and you will regret it inthe summer

  15. I agree it would be a shame to lose you and for you to lose your bus. It all depends what mileage you have to do in winter. i used to use mine all year round till i bought a poah newish car for regular jaunts up north as the bus wasnt the thing in the middle of winter to try and do lots of miles quickly. I was thinking of putting a post on as last year I was going to revert back yto the bus when all the snow was on the ground as the car just couldnt cope. My memories of driving my bus in the snow from way back was that it handled it pretty well.

I used to have no heating and fitted a second hand propex in the walkway and had a curtain accross the cab area to keep the heat in which was quite effective and as I'd dispensed with the heater duct up to the screen (ie the totem pole) I had the propex plumbed into the top part so it cleared the screen in no time.

My first bus was dormy and I have to admit to driving with the cooker on on at least one occasion!

  16. LOL the cooker...made me laugh!....ive bought a cigarette lighter fan heater LOL...yeah i am a sheffield lass and i grew up with frost on the INSIDE of my bedroom window for weeks at a time as a kid....but living with the sothern softies...has erm spoiled me!!
