Thinking, just thinking of flat towing our bay (when the resto is complete) behind our Motorhome. I’ve seen how they do it on the other side of the pond, they fix the the front beam, but wondered if anybody over here in the uk has flat towed their bus??? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is for recovery purpose only with an A frame to a safe place, The ones towed behind motorhomes etc here are connected up to self brake. You cant tow over 750kg unbraked.
You can get the tow hitch with inertia braking linked up to the brake pedal, just wondering if anybody had done it before connecting to the chassis? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"The other side of the pond" have roads and junctions designed to cope with such silliness , this country simply hasn't got the infrastructure/space. I really don't see the point... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
I think the idea is to park up the Motorhome and use the bay as a runaround. Most people use a Smartcar or similar.
Wouldn’t the weight and drag of towing an aerodynamic brick like a bay mean the motorhome would have dreadful fuel consumption?
A Frames are for recovery only. They don't comply with braking regulations, you can't reverse the vehicle and are prone to jackknifing if you turn too sharply.
Ditch the motorhome, drive the bus and stay in hotels? Dragging a bay along to use as a runaround? Madness!
Its basically how we used to do it fo a lot of family trips. Even a Travelodge or Premier Inn is better than a motorhome.
That's true in a lot of European countries, you can't even front lift a vehicle they always have to go on a flatbed or trailer.
