Any pics of reverse camera attached

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by pgtips, Oct 24, 2020.

  1. Hi,

Per the title does anyone have a reverse camera attached to the back of their bay?
I'd like some ideas if you could post a pic, there are a few different types of camera to buy so would be helpful to see what others have done.
    Many thanks,
    Pg

I use the massive bang when the rear bumper splits on a solid steel post...
And one of those £9 Fresnel lenses on the rear window for people and cars.

I don’t have one, but if I did I’d probably be looking at a way of getting it alongside the number plate light (a bit like some of the cheap T5 lights) or reverse engineering it into a an aftermarket reverse light mounted to the bumper

  4. Best position as a parking aid is up high, pointing straight down to the rear bumper.
I have 2 on the back of a Hymer, one pointing straight back as a rear view mirror and one straight down for parking.
Never felt the need on a bay though to be honest.

Will let you know what it works like in the week.

  6. I was looking at those but my rear plate is square. I will look a bit more though because the surface mounted cams I've seen don't look too great, was hoping if anyone else has done the same might have s few pics.

  8. I like that. So you glued it to the light ?

Mine is fixed where the original number light would have been. Devon moved the licence plate to accommodate the spare wheel carrier which the p.o. moved to the front.

Yes and no, the camara has a bolt in the back and is fixed through the number plate light, double sided sticky foam tape seals it. The camara is similar to this one. Reversing camara.jpg

That's pretty neat. Transit ones replace one of the number plate lights.

  14. Thanks guys, some really helpful replies, it helps to see them actually in place.
The problem is every summer or half term going away fully loaded can't see anything out back.
I liked the idea of great view mirrors but they are big buggers then I found a nice flip up screen radio with cd player and Android auto + does reverse camera.
    thanks @77 Westy ,that's the one !

I have the screen mounted on top of the dash. It was cheap as chips from AliExpress, but it’s flimsy.

  20. Same here with the tinted windows. Can’t see a thing at night hey.
I’ll be fitting reversing sensors in the bumper at some point.
