  1. R9 is outdated now, go for biofuel hose, Codan or similar.

  2. You want 100% bio ethanol proof fuel hose. I'll try and dig out the thread with all the details

  3. This is a very long thread but has all sorts of info on sizes etc

If you are about to buy new fuel hose - You want 100% bio fuel hose, NOT R9 rated

    5.5mm i.d 100% bio hose:
    £16.19 p.m Advanaced fluid solutions http://www.advancedfluidsolutions.co.uk/100-bio-fuel-hoses-petrol--diesel-hose-0--100-199-c.asp.
£16.50 per metre http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/ These guys also offer a TLB discount
? per metre at VW aircooled work as they sell in kits. Kevlar reinforced?

    7.3mm i.d 100% bio fuel hose:
£17.51 p.m Advanced fluid solutions. The website doesn't state who manufactures it, but when they sell on ebay it says cohline
    £20.50 per metre coolair vw
£25 per meter VW Aircooled works. Supply cohline

When I was looking to buy 100% bio hose I told the supplier my set up: Tank to 6mm mechanical fuel pump, to filter king to twin carbs. I was told that I needed to get exact measurements of breather pipes, carbs etc, so they could supply the correct sized pipe. I waited for my engine to come out to get measurements of the two poxy tank breathers 7mm i.d. There was no point in doing this as everyone sells the same two sizes of pipe. So I could have ordered it all before the engine came out. I think everyone sells cohline stuff as well!

    Other suppliers
http://jtarubber.co.uk/index.htm. john@jtarubber.co.uk. He sells off cuts on ebay under Seller montyidd, you can message him for alternative lengths etc if they aren't listed. I'm not sure if his stuff is 100% bio fuel hose. I'm pretty sure he is the supplier of the filler pipes that many vw people sell though. See above post for further info on jta rubber

I hope this will save someone some cash.

I have bought far too much fuel hose. I would have been in ignorant bliss if it wasn't for this forum & thread.
On the flips side a mate lost his bug to fire!

  6. Hi all, little update.
I removed the fuel tank found it to be in reasonable condition. Replaced all the breather an fuel lines with Cohline ethanol friendly, also new filler hose and new sender.
I have a question relating to fuel feed and return - Originally when I removed the engine the main feed to the carbs was the hose/outlet facing the front of the bus. Correct or not?
I have since swapped it round now the hose/outlet facing the engine will now be my feed. Will this affect fuel delivery to my carbs etc. Was there a reason behind previous owner having the hoses this way round?

  7. To add the first picture did have a blanking pipe on the empty outlet, I had already removed it as was really perished. I was aware that being a carb conversion there was no return line to the tank.
Please correct me if I’m mistaken.
    Thanks

If it helps, this is a FI bus layout:

Yours will be opposite as your fuel pump (on the motor ? ) will be approx. where our fuel pressure regulator on the return line is.

Basically, so long as you have flow, which you should as its by gravity, it will be fine, the fuel pump will not know / care so long as it gets a fuel supply.

  9. That’s great information thank you, I wasn’t 100% certain in case there was some sort of restrictor in the well of the fuel tank.
    Thanks MorkC68!

  10. So I’ve started the some much needed resto work on Herman, mainly the roof gutter strengthening panels. (The 3 pieces that are spot welded together)
Could anyone tell me if it would be wise to weld steel bar in the window aperture to take any weight from roof, for when I plan to cut/weld in new metal.
Has anyone tackled this before ?
I have the lengths of roof outer skin and the two strengthening panels A, B and C from Alan Schofields see pictures please, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you

  13. are you keeping the GO faster stripes?

  14. I am unsure at this moment in time, I’ve spotted a thread on here posted on 2011 when it was imported I believe. It seems as though the stripes are it’s identity so would be cruel not have them there it separates it from the rest, so may re do in some way or pay a visit to a pinstriper and have something slightly different as a tribute.
