Alvin, The 1974 California Campmobile

  1. It's a one year only like mine - 1974 and is Campmobile Deluxe I believe although the Helsinki was very similar. Your units look in great condition but what panels you after as I bought the new Helsinki panel set from http://nlavw.com/ and they fit fine?

  2. Our import came with its number plates we've stuck them on the back and front of the bumpers and the UK front plate under the VW sign

  3. thanks @geordieandy - my interior panels are quite worn so I was contemplating buying this interior panel set from NLAVW http://bit.ly/1T7mDRp but it says it's from '75 and mines '74 like you say, but that's good to know they fit yours. My other option is to sand down my existing panels and re-varnish them - a much cheaper option... The interior is in good condition apart from a few bits of laminate that has snapped off so I also need to replace those.

    Nice van and photos.

Did you and your mate talk to each other on stag weekend?! Every photo looks like you're looking at your phones :)

  6. Cracking bus, we were tempted by one in the same colour but it was quite rusty and then we fell in love with ours as soon as we saw her.

  7. Californian treasure, all found in between the back of the passenger seat and the back of the fridge. I'd love to know how old some of this stuff is...

  9. Removed all the covers from the bed / seats ready to wash the covers and replace the foam. Foam had pretty much disintegrated - lots of cheesy wotsit dust!

  10. There's some good camping spairs there:D

  11. What did you use to get them looking like that?

  12. Hi @geordieandy I used 'The original non silicone Wood Silk' - £1.50 from Waitrose. I'm yet to see how well it lasts as stuff I've used before wears off as it dries out and the fading reappears, but we'll see! So far so good...

Thanks to @Wills for the recommendation :)

  15. Brings back the memories of washing our sear covers, the muck that came out of them was incredible, but they look fab now.:D

  16. They took 7 hand washes in the bath, followed by 1 go in the washing machine! Now they look like new! :)
