Aircooled '14 - New Aircooled only event 27th-29th June 2014

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by Graham Lyall, Nov 20, 2013.

  1. So after talking about it for the last few years we've finally got plans in place for an Aircooled Only VW Show for 2014.

    Heres some preliminary information:

    Dates - 27th-29th June 2014
Location - Stratford Racecourse, Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire.

Its been hard finding a date that doesnt clash with other events and are currently looking at this as a Bi Annual show to alternate with the EBI event held in Belgium, so have chosen the the dates that EBI would have been on.

We are in the early stages of planning with tickets going on sale in the new year, likely cost is going to be £25 per adult for the weekend with kids going free but will finalise that once tickets go on sale.

The whole inner area of the racecourse is available for the show & campsite with the plan to make the campsite area for aircooled vehicles part of the main show rather than as a separate camping area, due to this the only vehicles allowed into this area will be aircooled apart from support vehicles belonging to traders & caterers.

There will obviously be the obligatory 'Late Bay Line up' as well as other Club Displays and plan to have a number of trophies including Best Club Stand but these will be based on Vehicles & Club stands within the Aircooled Camping area itself rather than having to move vehicles.

Perhaps a new venue for Battle of the Bays??

We are hoping that the trade area will be selling aircooled parts only and associated items, we would rather turn away trade stalls than fill the site with what I regard as 'tat'.

Theres lots more ideas in the pipeline and once these have been finalised we'll post more details.

We are currently talking to traders, sponsors, caterers etc so if you know anyone that has a trade stall or they fancy becoming a show sponsor then put them in touch, email address for the show is graham@aircooledevents.com

What makes us thing we can make a success of this?, well for those that don't know Midland prototype bay was initially set up alongside my event project management business an industry that I've worked in for over 25 years. These days I spend more time buying, selling and working on buses but still do the odd event here and there for long term clients, so running and managing events is not something new to me.

  2. Sounds good, I'll keep an eye on this thread for confirmation on dates etc :)

  3. Good call on the 'no tat' stalls.

  4. I was going to leave the show scene alone next year after several disappointing ones this year, but I might consider this one if it goes ahead......I remember the original Beetle Bash at Stratford raceway in the 90's.....if this is along those lines it will be good I reckon :)

  7. Sounds interesting. I'll give it a go but it will the entertainment which be the decider. Being on the mature side I'm tending to find that the music is really just aimed at 30 somethings. I keep up with the popular stuff and I'd be happy with music from any decade but the music at these events seems to be from a narrow range of genres.

  8. Entertainment yet to be confirmed as we are looking at a few options, if it helps I turned 50 this year so I'm also on the mature side.:)

  17. Definitely count us (the Classic Volks crew) in for this one, after running a successful aircooled show up in York this year I can definitely say it works, can't wait! Well done for going for it, hope you can make it up to ours in York this year too - Sept 12th - 14th :)

  18. SHOW NEWS UPDATE

The return of 'Battle of the Bays' for 2014 but with a difference, a double header. The first round will be at Aircooled 14 and the second round will be at SkegVegas on the 15th-17th August.

'Battle of the Bays' is a competition between Early Bays and Late Bays to see who can put on the best display in the eyes of the judges and the public. A judging criteria will be applied this year and the winner will be the one who scores the most over the 2 rounds.

So for those members of Earlybay.com and Thelatebay.com a chance to do battle once again, may the best bays win

Great idea to get the battle of the bays resurrected and i think i'll be most probably going Skegvegas, but I reckon if you want to promote it more you need to do a thread called the battle of the bays or this thread will just get lost amongst the other shows
