Im having a problem setting my throttle cable to my carbs.. If i detach the cable from carb linkage barrel, i can press the accelerator pedal fine. If i connect the cable to the linkage via the screw on the barrell, my accelerator pedal doesnt spring back once pressed and if i go to the engine and try and move the carb linkage, its solid, cant turn it. Ive tried loads of different things and am boggled as to what it might be. Anyone know? Cheers. Tried posting a pic of the linkage bar that goes across the engine but i cant make it any smaller, however the problem here is the hexagonal linkage bar slightly rubs on alternator securing strap and i cant move anything high enough to stop this. Any ideas? Ive managed to post a pic of linkage on althernator. Looks like you have neatly trapped the hex bar. Move the alternator clamp forwards a few mm or rotate it round so the bolt is round the side. Fit some 5mm spacers under the carbs or taller manifolds or raise the ends of the bar. Sure you havent assembled a linkage backwards one side so you are trying to close the throttles one side when opening the other? Carbs used to be made left and right handed then there were kits to make one side operate from the other end of the spindle to produce a handed version. And then there are setups that move both throttle spindles the same way. Disonnect the linkage from both carbs and just check the linkage actually tries to open both throttles when you move the linkage bar in the throttle opening direction..
If you can move the linkage without the cable attached then the next thing to look for is to see if the throttle cable has previously sliced the tube through the fanhousing and is getting stuck in the slot it has made, or the tube is crooked and the cable is trapped at the end of the tube where it goes through the gearbox mount.
