Hi I noticed when the accelerator pedal is pressed it pulls the metal sleeve tube thing out of the tin wear. I cant remember seeing any seals when refitting it is there anything I can do to stop it slipping now the engine is back in? Thanks
there should be a small round seal on the alternator/dynamo side....and I think some half round ones on the rear of the engine side ....you could stop it moving by using some tie wraps/cable ties
Hard in situ I know, but all the engines I sort out I cut a 1cm length of rubber tubing, slip it over the tube behind the tinware and secure with a jubilee or fuel line clip. As a stop gap you could find a grommet of a suitable size and use that at the front.
Previous owner made and fitted to the fan shroud adjacent to the metal tube a latch , like a piece of thin metal ,40mm long by 15mm wide it has a slot cut in it and it screws to the shroud and fits over the lip of the tube ,the aforementioned slot allows the cable to pass thru , whilst holding the tube in place, works a treat.
There was an aftermarket clip clip advertised around last year but I think they needed to sell a large number in order to bring the price down to a realistic level. That one screwed to the fan housing too.
No you won't be able to without at least drawing the engine an inch or 2 off the gearbox - the end will be inside the gearbox hanger. I can do mine as no hanger - Early wins again.
