Got a posh doo tonight - not been to one in ages. If you want to burglarise the house in my absence feel free, I'll send your remains home once the cat has finished with you. Anyway. Occurred to me that I only have the one pair of shoes for these doo's - have worn various others with suits - but only one for best best. Nothing ostentatious, black court shoes, Italian, cost me a oner around 1990. Not fashionable enough to go out of fashion. Places I know I've worn them - University balls, my dad's wedding, my step mothers funeral, my fathers funeral, my wedding and a couple of awards nights sort of thing. Do any of you own such items of clothing - you've had for decades?
I was forced this year to throw away my C&A swimming shorts from the 90’s. Shame, but they were getting a tad too tight.
I've still got my tasseled brown leather jacket from about 1988. My mate painted a native American chief on the back. I'll have to get a photo ...
Sorry cannot get anywhere near that ! I still have a pair of Timberland boots I bought 22 years ago at a retail outlet in Orlando , Florida .They were £16 and I can safely say the best bargain I have ever bought. Used generally in the winter and still got loads of life left in them .
I’ve got a Jack Wolfskin fleece , red with black paw prints that I’ve had for 30 years. Still looks like new, quality peice of clothing.
Somehow I have ended up with a totally unacceptable Peter Stuyvesant branded sailing jacket ... from when they sponsored boats in Whitbread round the world yacht races.. It was given to my father.
I've got event tee shirts that are 26 yrs old.. A pair of 15yr old leather shoes from a bond st dealer,.. . (charity shop find)
I have a pair of caterpillar boots that I have put dubbing on this evening to re-waterproof- think I’ve had them at least 30 years or so. pair of old converse from 1995 that were second hand when I found them in a field in Israel.
Claret Aquascutum jumper. Had it for at least 25 years, but it's pure wool so itches and smells like a red setter if one drop of rain hits it.
I've got an old Nortel baggy t-shirt from the 90s that looks like it's been hit by a shotgun. It's been patched up over the years and smells of suncream and sun
I’ve got my dads Crombie he bought on Jamaica Road in 1967 It’s a touch to narrow in the shoulders but I still wear it if visiting HQ in the winter
I’m beginning to worry that I won’t be able to get a replacement pair of Rockports as made in Portugal and I’ve only worn two pairs of those for my daily use since 1998. This pair has about a year left with frugal usage I reckon!
I’ve got a couple of pairs of 20-25 year old Church’s boots I bought when I lived in Northampton. They’ve been resoled a couple of times but still look pretty much mint.
