Can I take this opportunity to explain how I was taught many years ago, by a local nutter to drive without pas.
It's been brought home to me recently by my neighbour, who has just bought an E type & can't get to grips with the heavy low speed steering.
It's all about balancing the vehicle, rather than hold slightly higher revs as you gently slip the clutch and pull away, if you blip the throttle and release the clutch more abruptly, you can cause the nose of the vehicle to rise slightly without actually going anywhere. At this point, a lot of the weight is briefly transferred to the rear, the steering lightens noticeably and manoeuvring becomes the work of the xmas fairy.
The downside is you sound like a rally driver.

 

There's a proper The Good Life/Terry and June suburban vibe going on in your street, I reckon you should get a late '70s Volvo 240 estate or Saab 99 to complete the picture
