excellent news thank you. He did tell me and I think it's something to do with aligning the throttle linkages but don't quote me on it! Let me know tomorrow and I'll arrange a courier to collect.
Will let you tmw evening Ive got the kids off school at the moment full of the recent lergie thats been passed round the village So its all fun and games and multitasking atm
It balances out to some degree the pulses that occur in the seperate manifolds Its down to the fact that your using one single throat carb to feed two inlets Are you going to get it set up on a rolling road once the engines had a run in period?
The guy at fast road cars that I bought the 34 ICH's from said there was no need for a rolling road, just balance the air flow through the throats and set the mixture and I'm good to go. Much like all my twin carb MG's!
I dont mean to knock your experiance and skills simon Your experiance is with mgs My experiance is old fords When it comes to flat four engines it changes the rules a fair bit for suprising reasons at times Doesent matter how well an engine is built or how renound the builder is Id allways advise a rolling road tune
Your not knocking anything and you can tell from all my questions that my knowledge of VW's is very limited. Hence why I asked the carb builder about setting up the carb. He told me it is jetted the way LP likes them and so no need for a rolling road! I did enquire with a rolling road company that the local VW guys recommended but never heard back from them. I will get it in and run it in and go from there. Yes the twins on the MG's are on a common head and manifold, just referring to how they are set up.
Received the heads and manifolds back from manifold @paradox and the pictures don't do them justice. Superb quality and attention to detail, can't wait to get them fitted!
Im glad your happy with them simon Theres certainly a fair bit of improvement to be made reworking those autolinea heads and empi manifolds
I thought of you today as I put the heads in a cupboard! Need to replace the engine in my MGB before I can do the camper, at least the 1600 is still going! Really glad you have got Nomad back, hope Zed has a cunning plan for your engine!
Well time has passed quickly and no progress made. TBH a bit demoralised by it all really. Need to get the foam in the new roof bed reduced back to as it is on the old Westy one as it stops the pop top closing properly. Need to get a chippy to finish putting the new interior in as it need more 'fitting' than my wood skills can cope with. Need to completely strip and re-build my 1776 as there is a chance the builder may have made a complete hash of it. So all in all no camping has been done and no chance now this year. Hopefully get my mojo back over the winter ready for next year.
Its all about pulses created by the valves opening an closing You dont want stalled air so the balance pipe helps achieve a constant negative vacum
