  1. I'm selling this for a customer, its a lovely old bug in very good condition, as you can see from the photos the colbalt blue paint is nice with just a couple of areas needing attention, but not desperately. The original cream basket weave interior is lovely. It has a fresh mot & its obviously tax free.
It has its original dealer sticker in the back window, matching dealer handbook wallet, service history & massive history file, only 4 owners from new. How many bugs do you see these days so original even down to the cargo area when the rear seat is folded down ?
Overall a really nice useable clean original Bug. £3,500 ovno.

Very nice, if only I had a few quid and somewhere to store it.

  3. I had an identical one, Cobalt blue 1970 1500.
Beautiful car, my fiance bought it and had it shipped to Nigeria in spring 1970, we used it in Nigeria until December 1972, when we drove it home to the UK across the Sahara Desert.
Only problems were a puncture that ruined a tyre, the speedo cable broke, and the roof rack (totally overloaded with 30 gallons of fuel) went walk about and wrote off the bonnet. The trip also completely paint stripped (sand blasted) the bottom of the car!
Had the damage repaired and the bottom of the car undersealed by VW in Purley Surrey.
After six months in UK, shipped the car to Durban, then used it for three years in Southern Africa, visiting Rhodesia, Swaziland, and Botswana.
This car was 100% reliable, and apart from "swapping ends" a couple of times in the wet, was a joy to drive. Boy, could you feel the difference in power when you went on holiday to the coast, after spending most of the year at 5500 ft up in Joburg!
Sold the car in July 1976 in South Africa for more than I had paid for it new! I consider this the biggest mistake I ever made:(

I used the money from that sale to partially pay for my 1976 Kombi Bus that I purchased in Nigeria in October 1976, and that I own to this day.
This bus will never be sold in my lifetime.
    Tony

That's a shame, only wish I had that spare cash.... Saying that, it would only have been spent on the van anyway.

Good luck and shame its not sold already.
