I used to swim regularly 2-3 times a week about a mile a time, until the old pool I used closed to be replaced by a fancy Olympic 50m pool. Luton Council realised it could generate more revenue through club/group bookings so dwindled down the public swimming sessions to the point they didn’t fit around my schedule I swam about a week ago though whilst at a hotel when away with work, probably the first swim session in 7-8 years, still did a mile but felt it afterwards!
Yes to both of those. Stung twice in the sea off of the island of Agistri in Greece, and stood on a greater Weaver fish at Sidmouth. At least Imdidnt have to travel too far,to stand on the weaver fish.
I stood on one in The sea at Sidmouth. Took to the first aid place, had to put my foot in as hot a water as I could stand, then freezing water, then hot water and keep doing that as it draws the poison out.
I got stung by a jelly fish in Greece when I was a lad, damn that stung! To be fair, I did deserve it, having just beaten his mate with a snorkel…
We went swimming in the Whitsundays in Oz, we had to wear these “stinger suits” to protect us from box jellyfish …… thankfully we didn’t come across any, but saw loads of bluebottles which are like small Portugese Man o War I think. Paddled in the shallows with sting ray, but made sure we didn’t get as close as Steve Irwin
Been stung a few times by jellyfish, not a particularly pleasant experience Swimming in the Red Sea in Egypt was fantastic, it was just like being in an aquarium. You didn't need any fancy gear either, just a mask so you could see clearly
I got my 25, 50 and 100 Yards certificates and my gold survival, we had to swim in our pyjamas take the bottoms off in the water and make a float, I wish I had used clean PJs those skiddies were embarrassing
I think it was more your "jacuzzi impersonation" that caused concern, Baz. I've still got my old swimming certificates - in yards
