    Who me?
You can do anything if you're serious about it but for the best results you have to be obsessive and let it rule your life for a while.

  7. I heard that Red Bull gives you wings. Just one can and you'll be flying over those obstacles.

  10. Day 2 done,

Took some porridge, melon, cucumber and carrots to work with me today so I had some good stuff to snack on and keep me out the biscuit tin, the boss's home made lamb casserole and mash for lunch.

Went straight to the gym class after work so just got in and made myself some brown pasta with vegetables and a bit of sauce for dinner a small fruit smoothie and a chocolate muffin.

The app on my phone reckons that lot was about 2100 calories, which it thinks is right for my activity level.

I'm not hungry now, but I feel like I'm going to sleep well tonight

I used to be. I practiced for the Pennine way by going to the pub every night for 3 years and chain smoking. I fear that wouldn't work now. :(

  13. Hi Beaver the best advice I can give is to find an activity you actually like doing. Some people love going to a gym ...I tried and found it monotous. I recommend pilates...it really increases core strength. I have got back into swimming about 4 weeks ago...it was a struggle but I made myself go and now look forward to it.I have a dog which demands a walk every day and that helps too.Your new healthy habits will take a few months to ingrain themselves...so don't give up!

  14. Day 3, it's been a good food day, good as in healthy stuff, not bad good.

No exercise though, felt pretty tired this morning, but hoping to get the bike back out in the morning

  16. Day 4,

Back on my bike today, thankfully it stayed dry although it was pretty cold. I think it's time to invest in some new cycling gloves.

    I'm glad I had a rest yesterday.

So far so good, thanks for all the encouragement

  18. You will feel tired but you have rest days which is good.

Its not easy doing outdoor training this time of year, I trained for the April London Marathon many years ago and all that running during the cold weather wasn't pleasant. But it was worth it in the end.

I started slow and gradually built it up so my body could adjust. As you may have found out by now its also about the mind, not just the physical stuff.

Other exercise like walking may be better than cycling in the cold. I walk 2 miles each day and you can speed up or slow down or do a bit of jogging to vary it a bit and where I walk has lots of hills, some road, some muddy field. I walked over the local golf course today as its been closed due to the constant rain and water logging.

Blimey, well done I've been sheltering from the biting cold wind today! Was going to wash inside the wheel arches as they need some finishing but I put on the heater and had a nap instead, it's freezing out there!

  20. Just buy some plaster, chuck it round your leg the day before. Job done. Tell everyone how disappointed you are :)
