3 way fridge question

  1. I'm designing a new cupboard for my 3 way fridge. As the van is a non-walkthrough twin slider, the unit will be going behind the passenger seat, with a vent on the 'b' pillar.

My question is: how much gap will I have to allow for behind the fridge, for clearance? Its an Electrolux 3 way (gas/12v/240v) fridge, I think it's the 123.

  2. Post up lots of pics mate, i wanna fit one vented through the b pillar too

  3. I didnt bother fitting the flu as my old 2 way one hammered the gas ,wasent worth how much it cost to run to how much you could fit in ,just use it on 12v when driving and hook up.

  4. You'll need the special vent for the b-pillar, I managed to find one on the internet. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the site where I got it. If I do, I'll let you know.

  7. the bit i'm more confused about is the venting to that cover and fresh air venting for the fridge, big hole in the floor?

  8. Venting to the flue will just be a case of using the right diameter pipe (when I've seen it fitted, it has been above the swage line).

Fresh air venting will have to be a hole in the floor, but with some sort of shield over it to prevent water getting in when driving in the wet. For the top, I'm going to use a vent on top of the cabinet I'm building - it will mean heat rising into the passenger compartment, though.

  9. when i fitted the one in colin (which was alot more straight forward) for the top vent i just used a upvc window vent as this was at 90 degrees and looked neater, but with the angle of the flue im guessing that it has to come out above the worktop anyway and have a clear gap around it so that will probably suffice for the top vent?

  10. I was under the impression you still had to fit a flue even if you were just using the 12v? Please tell me I'm wrong? Don't particularly want to cut a hole in the side of my van!:)

  11. Just a thought, the pics for installation all show the fridge next to the side of the van with the flue straight out of the side, is it possible to reroute the flu? Any ideas?

  12. Westfalia did it in the Helsinki/Continental see BaG hEaDs bus, so it has been done and Zebedee has done it in his bus too and it works so yeah i think as long as the flu rises the gases escape but always have the carbon monoxide alarm nearby, and as i've mentioned baggy i should say always have all work carried out by a competent person and checked by a qualified installer, house prices can go up as well as down etc etc.... ;)

  13. No mate its to vent the gasses.

  14. So just when using gas I have to put in a flue then?? Is that right?

  15. Yes
Make sure you still connect the gas to it or it will leak
When I changed mine I didnt really think it through ,as I just changed from 2 way to 3 ,still need to connect gas even if your not using it ,unless you seal the rubber pipe leading to it.

  16. Thanks Lord Congi :)
