  1. Oh - forgot to say - many thanks for the info. Got a bit of time before MOT but like to have it ship shape!!!

  2. thanks for the great post. Mot in march, Thats given us a couple of small concerns.

  4. Hmmm. I have a lowered bus, stock tyres and the odd wheel arch rub on full lock over slight bumps. Looks like my guy is going to have to fiddle about with the steering lock stop before May...

Thanks to RC for writing and F for posting.

  5. Can we have this sticky'd in mech and tech?

Thanks to Larry Stockford at retrocustom for writing it and fish for bringing it to my attention ;)

Well, Major failed its MOT today...the handbrake was ineffective, and an advisory on a track rod end! Simple fixes :)

  7. Result Mark!

I've never minded the small fails, its the FAIL that are the problem :)

exactly mate...I was rather pleased that it was a trivial thing! The engine is running spot on, as is the chassis..he was suitably impressed

I could have if I was that bothered but then again I wasnt about to undo all his hard work. I just edited it to make it sound informative and not in respect to my customers. The original is not hard to find... Larry is having it nicked and posted all over the net and my rendition is at least crediting him for writing it. ;)

  11. As most peeps i expect i have no battery clamp, does anyone have any good ideas on fixing one or securing the battery. I would think as long as it is secure and doesnt move then this would be ok?

  12. bungee cord. I hid my battery so they couldn't find it.
    :)

  14. I think as usual it's who you know (in the mot world) not what you know. I think it helps when you use the same person to mot your vehicle year after year. In my experience mot inspectors usually respect how love and money we VDub nuts lavish on our vehicles.

  15. i spoke to my mot tester last year and im sure he said that driveshaft boots not on a steered axle ,ie bay window if split or perished wouldnt fail mot but would advise. again you would do them as a matter of course if you look after your bus...trouble is i have found the quality of repro rubber differs greatly. i have changed mine twice in 4 years due to perishing.

  16. I'm glad I've done all the work on my front beam now , new ball joints and track rod ends etc it is lowered but I can get a jack under is so should be fine .
    Great help
