FOR SALE 1972 Crossover Pop SWAP for Beetle

Discussion in 'Late Bay Classifieds' started by arrowgb, Aug 18, 2013.

  1. Hi guys.

I unfortunately am moving, and the garage in the new house is not big enough for my bus. I would be very interested in letting someone on the late bay have him and care for him like i do. If anyone has a really nice beetle they might be interested in swapping i would love to chat.

I have a 1972 (L Plate) tax exempt bus. It was newly MOT'd and serviced early this year. I have spent over 3k getting him welded, under-sealed and overhauling the engine which now runs like new. He has had a new exhaust and heat exchangers an the pipe underneath renewed to allow heat into the cab. (1 of the wires to the heat exchanger is not yet fitted). The seats and door cards are all new, plus i have some bits to sweeten the deal such as a aluminium step, electrical control box for 240v and dual batt charging and more. he has a new stereo(£240) and an alarm and immobiliser The bus is clean and tidy but needs a little TLC:-

It is british racing green and old english white, however the green all needs sanding back and repainting.

The pop top material needs replacing.

I personally would strip the interior out and re-carpet/ renew it then refit it. the current carpet was a bit of a rush job so could be used at a wedding.

    The rear headlining is poor

If someone wants to buy him i am looking for above 7k

He is currently in Swindon. You can get me on 07825132650 or email arrowgb@gmail.com for more details

Good work, looks good for the money.
Why does it need re-painting? Is it just bad paint or is it rotten?

    I'm guessing Swindon

  7. The paint on the roof (old english white i had done by a friend) and is good, however the paint at the bottom was done by the previous owner and is bad. I was going to sand and flat all the colour and repaint in a classic colour. It does have bubbles here and there that need looking at in the green, is why i think the previous owner did a very poor job.

  8. Yep, sunny old swindon

Some photos of the bad areas will help then.
£8k could be a bargain or not depending on the rot.

  10. Ok i uploaded some more pics...... The bus does not have major rot, it does have some bubbling that needs to be done so it does not get worse. On the sliding door the corner has had a bang so the paint has cracked.

Mostly it is sound, i hope the pictures show this

  11. Still available, any takers?

  12. It's a good project for some one , I like the steering wheel lol would you sell me that ????????

  13. Thanks :) they are bloody expensive ....

  14. Have done some work to the bus and used it to good effect over the summer, am still open to offers if anyone is interested.

New carpets fitted In the front. Mot until July 15. Pop top material replaced.

A good solid bus that just needs using more than I do.

  15. Hi bud, are you still considering swaps for a Beetle? I have a nice custom 2003 Mexi in Hereford with MOT which wants someone to use and I fancy a new van project :) Drop me a PM if so chap!
