For Sale my right hand drive, rust free, crossover, walk through, T2 1972 factory high top. She is tax exempt, MOT till September 2013. I am the third owner from new but the first owner registered in the UK. The reason for her good condition ( please see the photos) is that she has lived her life in the sunny climate of Cyprus. I have a file of history including the bill for a replacement engine. Her story is that she was originally owned by a Greek priest who used the van to cart around all the practical stuff in day to day monastery use. It was not particularly loved, just did what it was designed for to be a working vehicle. There for all manner of things were carried in it from timber to goats over the years. It was then brought 5 years ago by an elderly English VW enthusiast living in Cyprus ,he realised what a find the van was and got himself a bargain. Due to ill health ( a hip replacement) he returned to the UK and had his VW shipped over with the idea that when he recovered he would use it. Unfortunately he found getting in and out of the van just too difficult and decided to sell. I knew about the van, approached him and luckily he sold it to me before it had been UK registered. I’ve had it for over 2 years and use it daily to commute to work. It’s been great never let me down. I recently had the engine serviced and found that no2 cylinder was running low @90 psi compression. Otherwise the engine seems good no end float, top end rebuild and new carb. Hi have done a basic camper conversion boarded out the inside put in a fold down bed/platform, cupboards and cooker. All this is easily removed with a screwdriver. I have fitted an alarm, and electric screen wash, vintage cassette radio. Tided up the cab with new door pulls, leather steering wheel cover etc. But basically she is a stock van. Please bare in mind she is 40 years old, this is not a show vehicle it has suffered the usual knocks and scrapes over the years, there is evidence of filler here and there and it has a range of keys for different locks. What you will get is an honest working van that is a original right hand drive factory high top has not suffered from British winters so is rock solid underneath. I have replaced all the door rubbers and front and rear window rubbers. I have the quarter light rubbers which I’ve not put in as I haven’t done the outer window scrapers inner ones have been replaced. It is in its original factory colour and I have had it re sprayed to freshen it up.
