CLASSIC 1972 VOLKSWAGEN T2 FOR SALE. 1.6cc RHD,

It is with great sadness that we’ve decided to sell Lucy our beloved camper. We bought her in 2010 and had the bodywork stripped back to the bare metal before any repair and resprayed Racing Green & Cream, The underside has been overhauled and waxoiled recently and is in excellent condition.

The 1600cc petrol engine was refurbished in 2012 and again in January 2020 and rebuilt with all genuine VW parts where possible and put back the oil bath which so many VW owners removed for no good reason. The engine looks great and runs beautifully with less than 500 miles since rebuild, although at time of publication the clock shows under 38000 miles.

Brakes were renewed and Original VW chrome fittings and hub cabs used on the exterior. 4 very good tyres - 4 steel wheels powder coated cream.

The full length Devon pop top roof’s bellows and seals were newly replaced. The original VW skylight was retained. Spare Wheel situated on front of Camper. Furthermore, all window and door seals were replaced with new.

The VW seats in the cab and the rear bench seat and buddy seat have been professionally covered and matches the new door cards, checked curtains and the exterior colours. New headliner was installed.

2 x cigarette lighter for chargers and Tom Tom etc., on dashboard.

As part of the renovation, the interior was fitted out with hand build units which includes cutlery drawer, a contemporary floor, a new (in 2012)Rusty Lee full size rock & roll bed, Thetford 4 burner hob and grill and top of the range Dometic fridge with freezer.

Ample storage is available under hob, under the bed, and in buddy seat.

The electrics have been fully upgraded, with overhead flexible reading lights on stalks, 2 sockets and USB connection. A 240 volt socket conveniently situated in the engine compartment permits connection via hook up to site mains. Split charging ensures that the independent leisure battery remains topped up when on the move.

The van is free of road tax, serviced twice a year, brakes & steering components regularly maintained & replaced as necessary by VW trained mechanic who owns a T25 and beetle and all work done supported by paid bills and has always had MOT for peace of mind. The vehicle is garaged when not in use.

Used regularly for camping trips to France, IOW, North Wales, Devon, Cornwall, Kent & Cotswolds - never once been let down.

Many original features - a truly great & solid van.

This van is sold with gas cylinder, Vango air pump up drive away awning and misc camping gear too, including hook up reel, foldaway storage cupboard, leisure battery, Thetford Porta Potti and ‘Safe T Pedal’.

Much loved reluctantly selling as no longer able to keep.

Location South Wales. £24,000 – sold as seen, private sale so no guarantee or warranty.

Wear and tear commensurate with age and overall in very good order for the year and a great runner.

MOT due 10th August. Viewing a must and will make a wonderful purchase investment Contact Viv for further information and plenty more pictures of Restoration from bare metal to full respray outside and floor insulation and fittings on interior.

TBF we had £20k around August for an unwelded LHD tin top painted and finished to a similar level (and colour) but with just a full width r&r. No split charge, no hook up etc etc.
I think this would be an easy sell at £24,000 ish, which is what I'm guessing the OP would be happy with?

  10. Nice looking bus

Would you mind telling me what model of fridge and stove/oven and sink they are and what size gas bottle you fit in the cupboard please.

You have the set up I was hoping to achieve with my own van but was unsure if it was achievable in the space left when using a full width bed and your bus has shown me it’s possible

    Good luck with the sale

I haven’t got a sink, took it out to fit a fridge and mini oven. The oven/grill is a Thetford Hob-grill Mini Grill 720-730 Series bought online from Jackson’s leisure supplies and the fridge is a dometic CRX50 Compressor. The gas bottle under the hob/grill is the 7kg Calor gas bottle.

  12. Thanks viv
