1600TP Engine question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by 75BAY, Aug 10, 2019.

  1. Currently camping with our van and while checking the oil level noticed that the silver flexible hose on the rhs is a bit damaged at bottom. As a temporary fix have wrapped tape round tube where the hole is.
If I get the chance will buy a replacement as it’s only a push fit.
Does anyone know the diameter of this hose and length?
    Many thanks

It's 50mm, and the original cardboard type is better than the flimsy silver stuff. Available from Just Kampers amongst others.

Will try and get something temporary and order the type you suggest once home.

I wouldn't worry about it till you get home. It's only directing air to your heat exchangers, or warm air to the air filter, which you won't be needing in our glorious summer!

But this air flow is slightly cooling the heads even when the hot air is diverted during hahahaha "summer time". If your bus is on the verge of overheating, this airflow makes a tiny difference.., more so on a T4 where the heat exchanger air jacket protects the heads from heating by the exhaust underneath where it comes out the bottom of the heads.

  6. Thanks Mike,
Tape is doing well at the moment. 180miles today and no issues.

Possibly, but the op's tape repair would be more than adequate to get him home I'm sure.

  8. Or he could just leave it with a hole in...
