  1. my engine wont time up .....accuspark ignition, dizzy 050,pict34-3 carb ,.....engine runs fast 1000rpm on the counter....cannot adjust idle to tick over slower ,also the timing is all over the place ....i can set timing then pull throttle to rev it up ,when idle settles down the timing has moved again ........using a strobe to time up .......im using 2nd notch on wheel to time with .....????anyone know a fix ????

  2. have you checked the ignition module is mounted ok inside the dizzy?

  3. yeah bruv ..all ok there ..it wouldnt time up with standard points either .....i can time up ,lock dizzy in place ,then rev up ,let it idle for 2 mins and timing will be out again ....doin my nut in and looks like it gona rain in a hour .....race against the weather again

  4. sounds like module could be no good, but if you had problem with normal points. prob, could lie else where. any air leaks rattling from engine noises.

  5. no air leaks or rattles....just a mental jumping timing mark ......my pulley has 4 v cuts and one dimple if that helps

  6. How much are you having to re-adjust the timing by?

  7. jumping 10-30mm in either direction after i set it ....with the dizzy bolted tight, sumtimes it jumps str8 away when i set it whilst my hand is holding the dizzy

  8. Could be the distributor base plate sticking....moves as the bobweights swing out on increase rpm but doesn't return fully as the revs drop off.

  9. i was thinking dizzy problem as well bruv ....esp today when i was out doing it ......got to find a road round my way that nobody knows me ,in 20 minutes i had 3 people come up to chat to me ,proper does ya brain in when ya trying to sort probs out ....if another person tells me that porshe engine fits in there ,im gonna explode loooool....the dizzy is the only thing i havent renewed as well ...the acuspark dizzy i got wont fit in the bottom slot?but it measures up the same as my orig one ...maybe ill try again 2moz

  10. throw your lamp away ,put you finger in cylinder one ,turn the pully wheel till you think the barrel is at the top ,look where the rotor arm is ,twist the dizzy to number one lead and you will be more or less there..

  11. sell the beast on ebay looooooool.....ill get the mrs to put her finger in (oo-err mrs) ;)

Like I said weeks ago when you asked the same, the advance mech in your dizzy is sticking.

Did you fish out the oil felt from the shaft? Then remove the dog from the bottom and knock the top half of the dizzy out (carefully not loosing the internal circlip)? That's the advance bit - you need to get it out and clean off the dried up oil and gunk Putting back the internal ciclip is fun. :)

  17. yeah bro ..did it proud.....took it completely apart ..........i hate circlips at the best of times

If that didn't work then, time to get a new one. Prob for the best as it was going to sieze again at some point... In the blackwall Tunnel or somewhere equally convenient. :)

  19. sorted it now ,with a new dizzy ...shame the carb wont tune up..
