    Tbh, I don’t just ‘nip into town’. Bath is 14 miles away from me, and Swartz Bros., is the only real reason I would ever go there. If they shut down, I would probably just ride somewhere else.

    ooh that's interesting. I go up to that London four or five times a winter delivering with work - I rarely have to go into the congestion charging area, and have thus far always managed to skirt along the edges of the ULEZ - but if they expand it to anything inside the North and South Circular, that'll include most of our London-based customers. So does that mean in a 3.5 tonne truck I can't go in, or just that I have to pay to go in?

    I still wander in to Bath for a Schwartz burger every so often, you’ve got to order them first before you go now. Mrs Ozziedog and me go about once a fortnight or so for their burgers. We go to the one in Milsom St as it still has the old style cooking facilities, Normally I’ll have a blue cheese burger and a garlic Mayo cheese burger and some fries and a shake, Mrs Ozziedog has a plain Mayo burger and fries and shake. We’ve been going for quite a while since they shut the one on Gloucester Road in Bristol. Take the van when it’s nice or take the old Zafira if it’s damp / cold/ salty/ etc.:)

    Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,wonder if we’ve ever crossed paths ?:)

    Looks like it'll be £12.50 a day for me. For a once a month delivery run that includes 4 or 5 drops in the zone, it could be worse.
    Not so great for people who have to go in every day :(

    now wondering how long they’ve been there? The one in Bristol was a place where some of us would gravitate during the period we were messing about with CB radio before the inevitable happened and they introduced a legal FM UK only CB. That period prior is when someone suggested meeting up there and that was it I was hooked. Up until then I had given up on ever getting a decent burger ever again after coming over from Oz and the miriad of small burger bars making real milkshakes too. I came to England and was out sight seeing/ shopping with some rellies and they suggested getting a snack while we’re out in town, I jumped at the chance and we followed up by going for a burger and a milkshake in Wimpy
    :(:mad::confused::confused::mad::(
    Not impressed would be an understatement, a cold ish soggy burger with as much charisma as my grans hemoroids and not quite big enough to fill any of the cavities in my teeth:eek: When I first saw it on my paper style plate, camaflauged with a piece of ****** grease proof, I thought my uncles were having a laugh and they’d got me an imitation one made of plastic well they may as well have, it was awful and that word is nowhere near how rank I rated that burger after the rellies waited in a long queue for a half an hour when I was assuming they were cooking fresh to order. I was mentally imagining the burgers sizzling on a grill with the occasional flip and the SSsssssssss every time they go over, it weren’t nuffink like that . The strawberry milkshake was definitely not a strawberry milkshake, this was 1976 and wherever you went in the UK, the cold drinks were not refrigerated or even cold, they were room temperature. If you went into a shop for a can of coke or Fanta, or even a pub for that matter, nothing was refrigerated, it was just room temperature and on warm days, it was warm??? Back to the milkshake, it was a glass of milk with a bit of strawberry flavouring added and it might have been sterilised milk too because there was no fridge, so I got a glass of warm milk with a dribble of strawberry sicklyness in it and Unc says “ here ya go”,,,,,,” Enjoy”
    I never ever let on, but maybe my face said it all, but what a creation and there were people in a huge queue, I bet some of them are still stuck in it now:thumbsup:

    Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,saved by Schwartz :)

    I reckon Historic status on the log book will attract clauses in the near future such as limited mileage per year , and probably reintroduced road tax with a higher pollution tax bracket.
    Enjoy your freedom while it lasts...

  17. I charge £50 for going inside the M25 now as most of it is a dump lol. Now it will be £150 I guess. My Sprinter is 2014 euro 5. At the MOT it barely registered on the emissions.

    No bud, I didn’t. There was way toooo much to keep up with in and around Brizzal and the occasional ‘ convoy’ off down to Weymouth or wherever. Looking back, did I really do all that ?o_O:confused:o_O Yes we did I spose . I also would drive to some of the high points and DX for a bit In an old tranny I had. I’d fixed up a series of batteries (mostly crap) ;) along with a thousand watt burner sat on the dash next to my multi mode or whatever rig I was sporting at the time, and I had a twelve foot scaffold tube poking through the roof of the van with a twenty seven foot Avanti home base Ariel on the top , I think it was an Avanti sigma four but the mists of time are swirlingo_O DX ing was very addictive once you started getting Q cards from around the world, I once got into Beirut Lebanon on the skip and spoke to three or four different peeps with varying levels of English, mostly chatting about the troubles over there and I managed to get one to send me a Q card and that was my most unusual. Got into Oz once and once only although the skip was good for a week or so but I could hear them but couldn’t poke through for them to hear me, it may have been the same in that some may have been calling me but I couldn’t hear them. For some reason I had to try and get past hundreds calling me from Hereford and Worcester but maybe the ionosphere was leaning that way mostly? Who knows.:);):)
