My vote goes to LS-X It's magical stuff and stopped my mixer leaking, and it's easy to take apart again if you need to. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
Can you use cap ends just to do a test to see if that’s where the water is leaking from @Zed ? I tend to do that when fitting a shower as it makes the pipework a bit more visible to test before the shower valve goes on. Would you be able to tighten it more and add a couple of washers on that side,or it it physically touching the valve body so can’t move? I’ve got some LSX in my van but not ever used it yet but know some folk swear by it. The Olive hasn’t distorted the copper has it? ( unlikely) can you try and poke PTFE tape in around the olive? It’s a faff but can work. I dislike inset shower valve for the very reason that they are a pain if any problems. They look fab but bar shower valves are a lot not forgiving and more straightforward to test.
Where that chrome is missing, could you get some valve lapping paste and another piece of pipe with an olive and lap it until you have a decent seat ? Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, Just because I had a crack ,,, you wants one too
I’d bite the bullet and buy a replacement, otherwise you’ll be paranoid. When I did our en-suite I had kitchen towel draped over joints for days before being confident enough to fit the wallboard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've ordered one. I did consider that but chrome is rock hard and chipping it all off to match the area where it's missing without damaging the brass underneath is doomed to failure in my experience of similar things.
Second reply had it ......liquid PTFE will sort it easily, just dribble it on the olive, put it all back together and give it an hour to cure....job done.
Too late now, I've ordered the new part, what with the old one being cracked as well. I'm sure a lot of the suggestions would have worked as well and it was helpful to consider them all but in the end I thought best route was replace damaged part and be done with it for sure.
...and lurvely. The marina block is ok, it's medium quality campsite style, it's heated, there's plenty of hot water... but it's 200 yards each way in the cold and you can almost guarantee someone will drop a stinker in the bog while you're in the shower. I will not miss it. Soooo nice to finally get this going after all those months of traipsing to and fro.
Yay! Well done with patiently persevering. Enjoy the simplicity of a hot shower of your own, and your own hard work getting it right
Thanks and yes, plodded on there for a while! Just being able to leave the bathroom in a towel makes it all worthwhile - and it was warm in there too which is a first since I've had the boat, maybe 5-6 years now. Towels actually dry above the radiator too! Simple pleasures but joyous! I'm so happy I've ordered myself a short scale bass guitar.
You got it! There just isn't room in here to have a full size one and I like short scale basses anyway, I've had both in my time. I also prefer short scale guitars.
Nice bass. I remember when you got it - have you got into playing it? If you're a beginner and love reggae (I know you do) anything with Flabba Holt (Roots Radics) would be great to play along with. He's my all time favourite reggae bass player, the master of less is more. This chap agrees and will help you along.
Good work Zed. There's something rather warming using your own facilities rather than communal. We had to use the old block here whilst I refurb'd our bathroom. Hideous spider infested, asbestos roofed cubicles open to the elements. They're rather posh now but nevertheless....that was back then Our 'motorhome' esq bathroom gives us a 4x4 ft shower which is awesome on a short boat. Small luxuries, but it's 12 years done now...time to refurb next year....
Always found them rather "clonky" and dead, due to the short scale length and corresponding thicker strings. Each to their own. Andy Fraser's EB on the Free stuff sounds ok tho', but I think that's him, not the bass.
