So 84 year old John Cheese has singed up to do a remake of Falwty Towers with an American company, somehow I think it won't be as good as the original,I would like to be proved wrong but I Will have to wait and see.The original jokes will have to be droped to suit woke types etc.
It won’t work, but the best option would to have a frustrated old Basil battling to suppress adaptation to modern woke thrashing an electric car with its own charging lead
Just no. Some series are legendary because there’s only so many, I feel the same about Police Squad, for example. Some things are just perfect so why remake them - I won’t watch the US remake of The Italian Job, and cringe at most Beatles and Led Zep covers. If he’s skint he should consider going in the jungle, I’d like to see him lose it with Ant & Dec. They could tell him that the rats are actually Peruvian hamsters, and that they are fresh out of Waldorfs.
No doubt it'll look like it should complete with funny walks (some of them), funny facial expressions, all the visual clues, dubbed on laughing, but none of the jokes, those having been replaced with any old acceptable junk. All subtlety gone. I'm not getting at American TV, it would be just as bad if it was done here.
When I arrived at the Circular Quay in Sydney, I couldn’t not say ‘What did you expect? Sydney Opera House?’ I didn’t mention the war in Germany either. Well I may have once but I think I got away with it.
It might be awful, it might be great. But I have to say I’m struggling to think of a remake that came anywhere near the original. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
IMO Cheese has turned into the angry man he played, I don't think the angry man can play a comedy any more.
I haven’t even seen the remake of gone in 60 seconds, But then that is because I like the original so much and that is the very reason I haven’t seen it
I'm not sure 'political correctness' existed when Fawlty Towers first appeared, but the fact that it is so completely unPC is what makes it still so bloody funny. With all of that sanitised for a new generation...? I dunno, I think some things are better left as they are... you'll never top 'The Kipper and The Corpse' or 'Communication Problems'.
