body cut available? My sympathy goes out to the owner. i dont care about the 1 square KM of grass nearly destroyed as the police were complaining about I only care about the Kombi. It should be fixable because the body would be fine and only needs the fixtures and motor ect
Unfortunatley this was the second one this weekend. onother one went up in smoke on the north devon link road the day before. Your heart goes out to them. As for the grassland, that is also very sad. Obviously accidental in this instance unlike the occasional deliberate arson acts and just plain carelessness we get up here, but still destroying habitat and wildlife, in ground nesting bird season
Its just a van and would be covered by insurance. Nobody was hurt but wildlife and nesting birds would have been destroyed including a big area of valuable gorse heathland. Its a sad story.
It is at least good that it was not an arson attack however, this is still a disaster because a peice of history is lost now forever. I dont know how this happened however i would say something ignited the fuel possibly electrically as they were camping and not driving. this makes me think of automatic fire suppression systems
how is it hard to rebuild it. the chasis is their and only needs some repairs. it is like a full bear metal restoration
The heat from the fire will likely have warped every panel and changed the metallurgical properties of the whole structure. You might save the odd little cut out of it but I'd say that's only fit for the crusher now Ps of course it's identify and log book might live on
As Soggz said get your fuel lines looked at ...fuel filter out of engine bay and agreed value sorted .
Its not that simple, the steel could have been heated close to its melt temperature and have had unknown damage done to the microstructure rendering it structurally unsafe and that's before you take into account that of the weld joints
Totally agree, not just a van but memories, etc,etc gone forever. However van WAS being driven at the time. Drivers kids spotted smoke comeing from vents but by the time they got the extinghiser out it was too late. Luckilly everyone out ok.
I have a camper van , I don’t remember going through a a brain washing procedure when I sold it , my memories seem to have stayed if I did

Not sure about that one, but the other one the went up in Devon at the weekend, I’ve read the fuel lines had only been fitted 1000 miles ago.
