Fitted by a PO, even before my brother first owned the bus in 1996, so who knows how long ago? May be the work of a Mr H Robinson? It certainly ain't pretty but it actually does the job really well. So well in fact that I've never been tempted to change it even after all these years. Never yet had anyone defeat it and had a good few flummoxed as to how you actually open the lid - memorably a rather angry Italian border policeman who was convinced 3 lads driving an old VW bus out of Switzerland MUST be hiding drugs somewhere and most likely hiding place is in this 'locked' compartment at the back!
