Hello all. I'm hoping for some help and some advice..I'm a little desperate. I have a 34 Pict 3 carb on my 77 tp 1600 engine. Can anyone advise me the proper vacuum set up and where pipes should go. The outlets on the left of the carb - there is 0 advance happening and zero vacuum so i can set timing or get it to run as good as it should. What should be into the port on the front of the carb? Ive attatched photos I know its currently wrong - just ran the best this way after rebuilding an engine i got in boxes. My previous beetle i had twins so not used to single carb. Massive appreciation Sam Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
There should be a vaccum take off at the base of the carb. You will get little vacuum above the throttle butterfly.
This one in the middle? If so theres nothing there Sorry for my ignorance. Really not my forte Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
On mine the vacuum hose goes from the distributor can to the left side carb port. My front port is blanked off.
Its possible a carburettor was manufactured without e.g. the vacuum port for a vacuum advance distributor being if originally it was used with a non vacuum advance distributor..for instance as an industrial power pack in a water pump or a generator And the air flap vacuum feed from the carb. may have been left blocked because the air cleaner did not have a hot air flap. Or a PO might have plugged the hole because its neater than the more obvious hose stub with a bolt in it.
I sorted this. A previous owner had used a silicone substance as the inlet manifold carb gasket and it had filled all the vacuum ports in the throat of the carb. Air compresser removed all of it! Cheers guys Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
